Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Were you a veteran Fandom resident? Did you finish getting your brain broken by your sibling and/or buddy? Did you just want to sit down to recover from the shuttle ride? If so, then there were plenty of tables and chairs set up across the lawn just waiting to be filled!

[This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Kaylin nodded. "Good. It's a lot different from my home. Magic here, yes, but not like there. And all this electricity and internets and stuff... Not that I'm complaining about all the hot water you could ever want, believe me!"

"Are you from a different world or the past?" Johnny checked.

"Different world," Kaylin said. "Very different. As far as I can tell you don't have any Leontines or Barrani or Dragons. Or even any Aerians."

"They have wings," she said wistfully. She wasn't even going to mention the Tha’alani. Just the thought of them made her shudder.

"The only words I understood are 'dragons' and 'wings,'" Johnny said. "I'm just going to assume it makes sense."

"I'm sorry," Kaylin said, actually looking a bit rueful. "I forget people here don't know anything about my world."

"Don't worry about it. As far as I can tell, this picnic is basically here so people can get being confused about each others cultures over with ASAP," Johnny said.

"Could be," Kaylin said, "Though I'm told some people also enjoy 'breaking the brains' of the new students. I met a pink talking horse thing on my first day."

"Eh, I've seen weirder than that," Johnny said. "It takes more to break my brain."

"Really?" Now she was curious. "Like what? I'd love to know!"

"And give someone I just met ammunition to break my brain?" Johnny asked. "That's not likely, sorry."

"I have no need to do that," Kaylin said. "Fandom will do it to you quickly enough all by itself."

"I'll let that happen in due time," Johnny said. "But I still think I should be able to take most of what it throws my way."

Kaylin nodded. "It is what it is," she said. "You have to learn to deal with whatever life throws at you. Here or anywhere else."
