Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Were you a veteran Fandom resident? Did you finish getting your brain broken by your sibling and/or buddy? Did you just want to sit down to recover from the shuttle ride? If so, then there were plenty of tables and chairs set up across the lawn just waiting to be filled!

[This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Yes, free food day! Felicity was all over this.

She was not, however, all over the heat. She put up with enough of this in Vegas and she could not wait until fall.

Therefore she was picking a shady spot under a tree to eat her free food.

"All the good seats were taken over there," Johnny said with a nod over by the tables. "Mind if I share the tree?"

He was probably not going to help with the heat issue. That's not a euphemism. He actually radiated heat.

"Oh, sure," she said with a nod. "I mean, it's a public tree. You could be here even if I said no. Which I didn't, but you could."

"But I'm nice enough not to sit at trees where I'm not wanted," Johnny said. "Casual indifference isn't the same thing as not wanted though."

And with that, he sat down. "I'm Johnny. As you probably noticed, I'm new here."

"Felicity," she said. "Welcome to the island. Where are you coming from?"

"That's a pretty name. Almost as pretty as the person with the name," Johnny said. "In general, I'm from New York. But I just spent a few months hanging out in and around Paris."

"Hanging around Paris like visiting museums or, like, being mysterious with a beret--" Wait. Wait a second. Rewind the conversation a little, Felicity. "Oh thanks! My mind kind of blips out when people compliment me, sorry, I only just caught it."

"Really? I'm surprised you haven't gotten used to it yet," Johnny said. "And honestly, I was mostly hanging out in the bars. I'm not as cultured as you assumed."

"Get in any fights with a guy with a twirly mustache and a striped sweater?" she asked.

"Only one. And after I won he was nice enough to buy me a drink," Johnny said with a shrug. "Despite the stereotypes, they're good people. Especially in bars."

"Aw, that's good," Felicity said. "Mildly disappointing because that was a funny stereotype, but it's good."

"If it helps, there were some jerky individuals," Johnny said. "But I don't have any good stories about them. Sorry."

"I forgive you. But only just this once," she joked. "So what brings you here? Maryland doesn't seem like the most exciting destination after Paris."

"I was looking for something a little less exciting," Johnny said. "From what I've heard, I'm not sure I found it. But now I'm registered for classes, so I guess it's too late to back out now."

"Hey there are occasional boring days," Felicity shared. "It's just that those are typically overshadowed by killer carnivals and fish rain."

"Nobody mentioned the carnivals yet," Johnny said. "Mind sharing some info on that?"

"Well I stayed away from it for the most part 'cause I'm not an idiot and know a creepy carnival when I see one," Felicity said. "But from what I've heard it had some sort of mind control. Made people think they were carnies or something."

Which was horrifying.

"Okay, that's the first thing anyone's told me that's legitimately weird and unsettling," Johnny said. "Thank you for that, Felicity."
