Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Were you a veteran Fandom resident? Did you finish getting your brain broken by your sibling and/or buddy? Did you just want to sit down to recover from the shuttle ride? If so, then there were plenty of tables and chairs set up across the lawn just waiting to be filled!

[This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"The trick is to think of something incredibly sad. The saddest thing you can think of," Face said, letting his expression become woeful and pathetic. "The rest comes naturally."

Mara nodded. "I'll have to practice. It's always handy to do that to get out of chores, right?"

"Exactly," Face agreed. "Though you can't do it too often or your parents start to get suspicious." The fact his parents were also Lorrdian totally wasn't a factor, really.

"Aren't your parents already suspicious?" Mara wondered.

"It seems to be working so far, and they couldn't fool anyone." Because they hadn't been 'grieving his loss' for well over a year now without getting caught out, or anything. "Unless that's what they want me to think."

"Well, they are Lorrdian," Mara said, smiling eagerly and hoping that came out at "obsessed fan" more than "scarily well-briefed tiny assassin."

In certain circumstances the latter would have been more reassuring.

"You're right." Face gasped, feigning surprise. "How could I never have seen it before?"

"You're pretty but not that smart?" Mara suggested sweetly.

Face grinned and batted his eyelashes at Mara. "You think I'm pretty?"

Hope you weren't expecting the great Face Loran to be suave or serious, Mara.

"Everyone thinks you're pretty, Face," Mara said, blushing slightly. "There are at least a dozen magazines just on Imperial Center devoted to your every move."

Face remembered those, and the holoshoots he'd had to do for half of them, usually involving bare feet, soulful looks and ruffled shirts. Some days it was good to be dead.

"But you're not everyone, Mara. You've seen me..." he lowered his voice dramatically. "...without make-up."

"At least most of it," she teased. "There's no way those are not enhanced eyelashes."

What.

That was an odd segue for a teen girl.

"Lies," Face said smoothly, covering his surprise. "Slander spread by fans of Tetran Cowall."

All the girls in Imperial Center knew about prosthetics and advanced make up techniques? Maybe?

She made a face. "He's not half as talented."

Well he had at her age, but he'd been an actor.

Face grinned. "Clearly you are a woman of intelligence and good taste," he said.

She blushed because c'mon, Face Loran was saying it. "Thanks."

Oh, Mara, if only you know what a completely dork Face really was. "So, Mara, what has you swapping Coruscant for this quaint planet?"

"Change of pace," Mara said. "You?"

"Pretty much the same thing," Face said. "We definitely picked the right planet for it. Did you know they've only gotten as far into space as their moon?"

The moon, Mara.

Mara made a face. "We got here via a vehicle with wheels. I though Dantooine was primitive."

"Wheels?" Now that was just wrong. "Next you'll be telling me the library is full of printed books."

"We should check," Mara said. "Have you seen all the stairs?"

"I have. It's like they've never even heard of repulsors." That's because they hadn't, Face. And you've used plenty of stairs on Lorrd.

"Well, maybe they'll all be blown away by our brilliance," Mara said.

"Oh, that'll happen anyway," Face said airily. "We'll just seem even more clever by comparison."
