Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Were you a veteran Fandom resident? Did you finish getting your brain broken by your sibling and/or buddy? Did you just want to sit down to recover from the shuttle ride? If so, then there were plenty of tables and chairs set up across the lawn just waiting to be filled!

[This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Atton wasn't going to go over there and talk to her. That felt awkward.

But he did give her a very dignified manly wave with his bottle of water when she happened to be looking his way. Just to let her know. Y'know.

How awkward was it then for her to come over and talk to him? Because it was happening.

She gave a nod back, and then got up and walked over, asking, "See anyone interesting yet?"

"Not yet," Atton admitted. Okay, it was a little awkward. "I mean, I don't see anyone with a likelihood of slitting people's throats at night."

"I'm going to be relieved at that considering I have to share the dorms with them," Sia said. "Welcome back."

"Thanks," Atton said lightly. "And that's why I'm happy to have an apartment all to myself now I'm here."

He shrugged. Yeah, he wasn't in his comfort zone here. "How've you been?"

"All right," she said. "It's been an adjustment, with everyone leaving. How about you?"

"I came back," Atton said, "That's been an adjustment."

Evasive? Only a little.

"Did things not work out back home?" Sia asked, actually concerned.

"The others are working on the whole 'restoring the Jedi Order' thing," Atton said. "It's not my style. That's all."

And also Meetra left him on his own while he was in medbay and then went out and got herself killed, but, well. Sharing.

(And none of this was keeping him from wearing the Jedi tunic - or the lightsaber.)

"So you're back. Doing what?" she wondered.

"Teaching," Atton said.

He hoped she wouldn't laugh.

She didn't laugh! But did stare a little.

"Teaching."

"Teaching," Atton confirmed. "How to survive, uh... stuff."

Look, that stare was unnerving.

"I never would have figured you for a teacher," Sia admitted.

"Well, it's been a long couple of years. People change," Atton said, more defensively than he'd like to admit.

Also Sparkle had basically dared him to go through with it, so.

"I'm not complaining, I'm just surprised," Sia assured him

She was going to go to her room and check her schedule later, though, because she was hoping she didn't take that class. She never ever wanted to be able to say that she'd ever kissed one of her teachers.

"Okay, good," Atton said.

And then wondered if this was ever going to feel like, anywhere close to normal again at all. "I'm talking to Skywalker, too. See if he has some ideas for home."

"Voluntarily?" He just kept surprising her.

"Talked to him a couple of times after the whole thing," Atton admitted. "Look, I'm not an idiot, even if I look that way. I've needed his help once or twice. Just... don't tell him I said that."

"I would never," she promised. "I'm glad to hear this."

She was kind of proud of him for how much he'd grown up, shhh.

"Yeah, well..."

He faltered after that, because all he had was kneejerk rejections or more stupid face-saving poodoo after that, so.

Silence it was.

"The radio so far doesn't have to report us arguing. They might not know what to do with themselves," Sia teased.

"Get a real job?" Atton suggested. "I mean, those squirrels look like they could do manual labor..."

"They're far too drunk for manual labor," Sia said, shaking her head.

"So put them through a detox," Atton replied. "It'll be good for them. Might teach them to stop snooping in other people's business."
