Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Were you a veteran Fandom resident? Did you finish getting your brain broken by your sibling and/or buddy? Did you just want to sit down to recover from the shuttle ride? If so, then there were plenty of tables and chairs set up across the lawn just waiting to be filled!

[This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Not at all," Hannibal answered. Then, after a pause, "on both counts. If he were bigger...well, perhaps I should get one myself, to chase off the flamingos." His lawn's squatters had been an unpleasant surprise.

"A dog would be way better for that," Sparkle decided, smirking faintly. "But one of those would be worse on the furniture, I think. Way more hair. What the hell are flamingos doing on your lawn, anyway? I thought they always stuck around the water."

Hannibal sighed. "I gather they've been there for some time, although I hadn't noticed the last time I was there." Something about an evil carnival had taken up his attention. "A number of them have taken up residence, and I don't seem able to shoo them off." Something about the pink he'd fed them.
myownface: (Oh Yeah?)

Well, you feed chum to sharks, Hannibal, don't get surprised when they follow your boat.

"... Fair enough. I don't think I'd want to try. They might be funny looking birds, but I'm pretty sure any one of them could kick my ass." Because they were funny looking but also huge. "I wonder if flamingos have, like, natural predators. Like you know how they'll put owl decoys on rooftops to keep pigeons from crapping all over them or flying into windows or whatever? Just set up a big fake... whatever eats flamingos... on the lawn."

"Not once they're grown, unfortunately." He'd looked into it, yes. "I'll just have to hope that they get bored and leave." They wouldn't.
myownface: (Yeah Sure)

"Or hungry," Sparkle agreed. "It's not like there's an abundance of krill in your front yard, I mean."

So yeah, that was weird.

"Not that I'm aware of, no." You couldn't really cook krill, so far as he was aware.
myownface: (Ah.)

"This place," Sparkle muttered with a shake of his head. "Fandom. For all we know, they could have found an alternate food source in like gremlin shit or something."

That would be terrifying.

"I guess so long as they don't start attacking the mailman or something, it's not that bad?"

"They have been fairly unobtrusive," Hannibal reluctantly acknowledged. "Apart from the fact they make my lawn resemble a trailer park." Just because they weren't plastic, didn't mean he needed them on his lawn, damn it!

"A really high-class trailer park," Sparkle laughed, shaking his head. "Those things look way better than those plastic crappy ones that people stick on lawns when somebody turns forty."

Hannibal may have looked slightly pained. "I suppose there is that. Barely." And he supposed they were an added bit of camouflage - what sort of serial killer would have flamingos on his lawn?

"What classes have you got this semester?" Not his; he'd noticed. Just like he'd noticed that half his class had already taken it before. At least he knew who was only in it for the food.

"A couple of weird ones," Sparkle replied, frowning a little. "I guess I get what I get when I'm not actually here to sign up for my own. I got creative writing and then something about being a frigging mercenary. And then Atton's drafted me for TA duty in his class, so there's that one, too."

Yeah, drafted. As if Sparkle wouldn't jump at the chance to play sidekick for Atton in any non-lethal scenario.

"Those could be...interesting," Hannibal noted. "I imagine you'll be quite good at creative writing," because he had no idea Navaan was teaching it. "Maybe the other one will teach weapons and money skills?" Either of those could be useful.

"I'm glad to hear your friend is doing well, though frankly I'm surprised he returned," he added. "I take it the dean either was not consulted or has gotten over his hypocrisy?"

Sparkle made a noise in his throat that said volumes about what he thought of Anakin's ability to get over his hypocrisy.

"Pretty sure Skywalker knows he's here," he shared. "Last I checked they were on okay terms. So maybe he pulled his head out of his ass long enough to hear someone out about the whole situation, or maybe he's got a guilty conscience or something. I don't actually care enough about Skywalker to pry too much."

One thing could be said for Sparkle at least; when he was given a reason to hold a grudge, he did so with an iron grip.

Hannibal was very good at grudges, too, and he wasn't about to talk Sparkle out of this one. "So long as he doesn't make trouble again, I suppose we can count it fortunate."
