Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Everyone might have been getting ready for the fall semester, but it was definitely still summertime in Fandom. The temperature was high, the wind was low, and it was only going to get hotter once everyone arrived.

There were chairs and tables set out around the lawn, some in shady spots and some out in the sun, and there was a long table of moddable food culminating in a table full of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet choices. There were also stacks of nametags for people to label themselves with, and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything in order, it was time to welcome some new people!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Raven was sure to end up topless for "tradition"'s sake by the end of the picnic, but she didn't want to scare off her latest little sib too quickly. So for the time being she was mimicking a perfectly classy blue and white number, complete with mimicked name tag to make her easier to recognize if her new sib spotted her first.

She was wearing a name tag, but she wasn't happy about it.

So the shuttle guys had dropped Dante off here without even questioning it. Now he was here, and there was... a name tag with his name on it?

Yeah, Dante figured something wiggy was going on, but the weather was too nice for him to care too much. He drew a sarcastic smiley face all over his nametag and stuck it somewhere on his coat.

Isabela...had no idea what was going on, apart from some kind of picnic, but they seems to have been expecting her, and had given her some kind of sticky parchment with 'Isabela' written on it, so she figured she might as well stick around to see if anything interesting happened.

Eggsy had used the shuttle over to pass out a little, fucking thanks, Frank take a quick nap before getting to the school. So he missed the full effect of the island, but certainly did not miss the stairs.

And he was deeply suspicious of the fact that a French castle was in America. Just so you know. But his focus for now was aggressively changing his name tag to say 'Eggsy' instead of Gary.

Maria wasn't too sure about this who big sibling thing, but she had to admit that it sounded like it could be fun. She filled out a name tag and then looked around for someone named Tali.

Anders was looking forward to being a big sibling again; he figured whoever they were, they were almost certain to be less complicated than Alluka. He had his nametag square on the center of his chest and was holding a plate of brownies.

Fandom explanations tended to go over better when there was food.

Kathy didn't have a little sibling this time around, but she did have a new roommate. One she needed to have a word with, apparently. "Okay," she said, pointing at Raven. "How is it you were the one going on and on about upholding important Fandom traditions, but I'm the one in a bikini today?"

Isabela looked at the list. Whatever else was going on, a roommate probably meant no one was planning on locking her in. Probably. That was a plus.

There was a slightly nasal, mostly high-pitched squee coming from the girl in the unseasonably warm-looking sweater as she looked at the roomie list. Yes! Yes!

And now she was doing a clap and a spin, as the little pig beside her feet blinked up at her curiously.

"Yesssss!"

When Maria saw that her roommate was going to be a guy, she shook her head. This was one of those things that she was not telling her mother. Still, it could be a fun experience to have a new friend that was male and not in a dating sense of any kind.

Mara was more than a little upset that Johnny had ended up going home (and not just because he was so damn pretty to see in her room, though that was some of it...)

Maybe Merrill was also really cute? She put her "Mara" nametag on, pulled her persona of a bubbly, useless teenager on like an outfit and popped up on tiptoes to see if she could spot Merrill first.

So, apparently Hardison had been here long enough to be given a teaching buddy of his own. So long as he didn't get another robot, he figured he'd be okay. Especially since he recognized the name Didi from broadcasts, so it wasn't like he'd have to explain the whole island.

Thank god.

So rather than hunting down some poor, innocent new teacher and hopefully getting to them before the crazy could, Hardison figured he'd have plenty of time to get a plate of snacks and chat with people while keeping a weather eye out for his new buddy.

...And possibly get some idea of what to tell his new buddy that wasn't just geeking out over how awesome the Danger Shop was.

Eliot had gotten a decent look at some of the new students on the shuttle ride over from BWI, but he was still scanning the crowd and assessing any new folks he spotted. Old habits died extremely hard, especially when said habits had saved your life a few dozen times over.

The little bowl of bright pink sorbet was kind of ruining the whole badass hitter effect, though. Whatever. Watermelon sorbet was delicious.

Pinkie was so excited to be teaching again she was practically literally vibrating. Which was cool, because it made her voice sound all silly!

Which would be why she was vibrating slowly across the picnic giggling delightedly to herself. Because, hey, when you were the token brain-breaker of the island, you might as well go all the way.

Parker was sitting on one of the tables, the better to be closer to the food. Scrutinizing the new kids and new teachers alike, and then occasionally popping out of nowhere to steal someone else's food (Eliot). Or spot (Hardison).

Atton didn't look particularly happy to be here, but what was new. He was pretty sure he was reaching the end of the period of time he could just spend locked up in his apartment feeling miserable, sure, but that didn't mean the island had to be all sunny about it.

At least he had a cantina trip tonight. That was his only consolation.

Now, now, narrative, Obi-Wan was responsible most of the time.

He was also hanging out in the shade in his Jedi robes, his eyes set on the students as they passed by. He was still unsure of his decision to remain on the island for the next semester, but also resigned to it; the island seemed to have little interest in letting him go.

Cara hadn't particularly cared for the picnics even when she'd been a student.

So she was so very happy she was expected to show up now she was a teacher, really she was.
