Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Everyone might have been getting ready for the fall semester, but it was definitely still summertime in Fandom. The temperature was high, the wind was low, and it was only going to get hotter once everyone arrived.

There were chairs and tables set out around the lawn, some in shady spots and some out in the sun, and there was a long table of moddable food culminating in a table full of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet choices. There were also stacks of nametags for people to label themselves with, and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything in order, it was time to welcome some new people!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Lito smiled ruefully and asked, "Does it show? Yes, hello, Lito Rodriguez."

"Clint Barton, it's nice to meet you," he said. "There aren't a whole lot of people on the island, so it's pretty easy to pick out the new folks. And I've actually been looking for you, I'm supposed to help you get used to teaching here and all."

"Oh, good," Lito said. "I could definitely use some help, I've never taught anything before." He pulled a little 'yikes' face. "And now here I am, with a...is the pony a mascot? I thought the school colors were blue and gold." And not pink.

"Uh, the pony is actually a teacher," Clint said, giving Lito a sheepish look. "Congrats, you've come to teach in a really weird place. It's good and the people can be really awesome but... uh, yeah."

For a moment, Lito--or, well, Lito's consciousness, his body stayed standing next to Clint--was in Nomi's loft in San Francisco, telling her, "I am going to kill you." Then, before she could react, he was back in Fandom, telling Clint, "I see. That is definitely...not what I expected, when I decided to take a sabbatical here, yes." On the other hand, if they were going to find answers anywhere for what to do about BPO, somewhere with a pink pony teaching high school seemed like as good a place to start as any.

"It's not what I expected either, and I come from a place that kind of got invaded by aliens," Clint said. "You'll get used to the weird stuff over time. If a student tells you they're from a place you've never heard of, or a different time, just... give them the benefit of the doubt, to start." He smiled softly, hoping he wasn't breaking Lito's brain too much. "What are you teaching?"

"Drama," Lito said. "Which means I also have to assume they might be lying, because I know drama types. I'm an actor, back home."

Clint laughed and nodded. "Also, they're teenagers, and teenagers lie about a lot of things," he said. "Drama should be good though, I haven't seen that class offered before. Have you got a place to stay and all that?"

"I have an apartment," Lito confirmed. "I haven't seen it yet, but my luggage was supposed to be delivered there, so I'm hoping it's real."
