Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Everyone might have been getting ready for the fall semester, but it was definitely still summertime in Fandom. The temperature was high, the wind was low, and it was only going to get hotter once everyone arrived.

There were chairs and tables set out around the lawn, some in shady spots and some out in the sun, and there was a long table of ~~moddable~~ food culminating in a table full of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet choices. There were also stacks of nametags for people to label themselves with, and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything in order, it was time to welcome some new people!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

There was a slightly nasal, mostly high-pitched squee coming from the girl in the unseasonably warm-looking sweater as she looked at the roomie list. Yes! Yes!

And now she was doing a clap and a spin, as the little pig beside her feet blinked up at her curiously.

"Yesssss!"

Alluka was looking for Mabel, a stuffed bunny in her arms as she said, "Mabel, Mabel, Mabel--"

The exact moment that Alluka saw the roomie change was extremely obvious as she let out of a squeal of her own.

"It's official!"

They'd gotten permission! And, and it was going to be the best! And this was already the BEST. DAY. EVER.

"It is!" And now Mabel was picking up Waddles to do a little dance. "Oh, this is going to be great! We're going to do one another's hair, and dress up all cute and have tea parties, and watch Ducktective marathons together and AAAH I need to pack!"

... Not that she had much to pack.

"Will packing take long?" Alluka asked, since Mabel seemed sort of concerned about that one as opposed to excitedly dancing about regarding the rest of it. "Will, will you have to miss the picnic? That'd be sad!"

"Not long at all," Mabel replied, after a moment of pausing to consider. "I don't have much to pack at all, actually. Just shove everything into a few boxes, maybe make Waddles carry some. But missing the picnic? No way! Just so long as I'm not keeping somebody else out of the room, it's all good!"

EVERYTHING WAS GOOD.

EVERYTHING.

YAY! IT REALLY WAS.

"Then, then you can move in after the picnic?" she asked hopefully. "And I'll make sure that my toys know!"

"That sounds perfect," Mabel decided. "Today is going to be a fun-filled day of backing and walking back and forth down the hall! And also picnicking!"

Which was at least somewhat more entertaining than moving was.

"And candy!"

Because Alluka had her priorities in order!

"And getting to see new people and make more friends!"

Even though she could barely keep track of the ones she did have. Alluka was bad at that.

That was okay. A few months with Mabel, and Alluka would be a professional scrapbooker. Scrapbooks were great for remembering your small army of friends who were sort of just acquaintances!

"All of these most excellent things! Today is going to be great!"

The world trembled in fear!

Of the amount of glitter she was going to use in scrapbooking.

"Yes!" Alluka nodded seriously. (Okay, fake-seriously, but she was trying.) "We should meet up later, then?"

Yeah, good luck finding the photos underneath all of the sparkles!

"We should totally meet up later! I can bring over my crafting supplies, and once I've unloaded my sweaters, we can start thinking about how we'd like to decorate!"

Probably also with glitter. And stickers.

And streamers and banners and maybe even a fort in the middle of their room!

"I'm so excited!" Alluka squealed and went in for a hug. "I'll see you later!"

Mabel met Alluka in that hug, and made it big and squishy, so that it really counted!

"I'll see you later! Have fun at the rest of the picnic!"
