Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Everyone might have been getting ready for the fall semester, but it was definitely still summertime in Fandom. The temperature was high, the wind was low, and it was only going to get hotter once everyone arrived.

There were chairs and tables set out around the lawn, some in shady spots and some out in the sun, and there was a long table of moddable food culminating in a table full of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet choices. There were also stacks of nametags for people to label themselves with, and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything in order, it was time to welcome some new people!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Raven was sure to end up topless for "tradition"'s sake by the end of the picnic, but she didn't want to scare off her latest little sib too quickly. So for the time being she was mimicking a perfectly classy blue and white number, complete with mimicked name tag to make her easier to recognize if her new sib spotted her first.

"Just to lay out a ground rule, I will not stand for any noogies. They're disrespectful and could cause me to spill my drink," Frank said right after spotting Raven's nametag. "If you can agree to that, then I'm Frank, your little sibling."

And yes he was holding a drink. That should be a given by now.

This was already far too cutesy for Xanthippe. Seriously, a picnic? At a school?

She was wearing a name tag, but she wasn't happy about it.

Face was shirtless, covered in body glitter, and had his nametag (with the 'Garik' crossed out and replaced with 'Face') stuck to his glittery, bare chest.

"Xanthippe?" he called out. "Looking for a Xanthippe?"

... As if that mattered. She'd responded to Xanadu at least once in her life. She was conditioned to react to things that sounded at least vaguely like her name, anyway. "Yes?"

Lorrdians could pronounce sounds most other humans couldn't, there was a decent chance he was.

Face came over, grinning. "I'm Face," he said. "I'm supposed to explain how things work around here."

So the shuttle guys had dropped Dante off here without even questioning it. Now he was here, and there was... a name tag with his name on it?

Yeah, Dante figured something wiggy was going on, but the weather was too nice for him to care too much. He drew a sarcastic smiley face all over his nametag and stuck it somewhere on his coat.

"Nice nametag," Jasper said, nodding down at it. He'd been wandering by, looking idly for his little sibling when he'd spotted the name and the artistic creation. "Happy to be here or something?"

"Jasper," he answered, completely at home with smiles like that. It didn't even register. Probably because he'd seen smiles like that on his father. Hell, his own smile could look like that on occasion. "If you're Dante, I'm supposed to be your big sibling, make sure you know the ropes."

Isabela...had no idea what was going on, apart from some kind of picnic, but they seems to have been expecting her, and had given her some kind of sticky parchment with 'Isabela' written on it, so she figured she might as well stick around to see if anything interesting happened.

A short girl with her hair done up in pigtails seemed to be looking at peoples' sticky parchments, as if searching for someone. When she saw Isabela's, she grinned suddenly and started walking over with a sense of purpose.

"Hi!"

Eggsy had used the shuttle over to pass out a little, fucking thanks, Frank take a quick nap before getting to the school. So he missed the full effect of the island, but certainly did not miss the stairs.

And he was deeply suspicious of the fact that a French castle was in America. Just so you know. But his focus for now was aggressively changing his name tag to say 'Eggsy' instead of Gary.

Ezra was still wearing a shirt at this point of the day. His name tag looked better affixed to his shirt than his bare chest, anyway.

Maria wasn't too sure about this who big sibling thing, but she had to admit that it sounded like it could be fun. She filled out a name tag and then looked around for someone named Tali.

It might have been hard not to notice Tali, all things considered, but at least she did have her nametag on. (It wasn't as if Maria knew who she was yet, anyway.)

"There you are!" she exclaimed, sounding enthusiastic and friendly enough to (hopefully) offset how offputting the mask could be. "Unless there's another Maria, that is, but I didn't see one on the roommate list."

She held out one gloved, three-fingered hand. "Welcome to Fandom. I'm Tali, and I'm here to help you get settled in."

Good thing you weren't unfamiliar with the concept of aliens, Maria?

To give Maria credit, she didn't boggle at the person now reaching to shake her hand. The other person seemed nice and wasn't trying to hurt her, so it was a win.

Besides, one of the drivers of the bus had been in a full suit of robot armor or something.

"Hello, Tali, it's nice to meet you," she said with a genuine smile. "Yes, I'm Maria and there wasn't another one of the bus or anything."

Anders was looking forward to being a big sibling again; he figured whoever they were, they were almost certain to be less complicated than Alluka. He had his nametag square on the center of his chest and was holding a plate of brownies.

Fandom explanations tended to go over better when there was food.

Yes! As she made her way through the crowd squinting at nametags, April had been hoping that Anders would be the guy with the brownies. Today was going great!
