Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Everyone might have been getting ready for the fall semester, but it was definitely still summertime in Fandom. The temperature was high, the wind was low, and it was only going to get hotter once everyone arrived.

There were chairs and tables set out around the lawn, some in shady spots and some out in the sun, and there was a long table of ~~moddable~~ food culminating in a table full of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet choices. There were also stacks of nametags for people to label themselves with, and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything in order, it was time to welcome some new people!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"That is so." Complete with a nod. "Of course, this place is pretty weird, so the first thing I have to do is note that you're probably not going to believe half of what I'm going to say."

Even Ezra had some bouts of realism.

"And that's okay. It takes time."

"Got talked to by someone sayin' she's from space." So, there was that.

Ezra nodded and pointed a finger at him. "Yes, exactly. That kind of thing." He pointed at himself before letting his hand fall. "And I'm a werefox. That's what passes for normal here."

"A what?" He totally most not have heard that right.

"A werefox."

So yes, he'd heard that right.

"You've heard of werewolves, right? They're always getting all the attention." He wrinkled his nose. "Anyway, it's like that. Except with a fox. Also I don't need a full moon, and I only avoid silver when it clashes with the rest of my outfit."

"Ain't heard of werewolves outside of movies or shit TV shows," Eggsy replied. "You telling me the truth here?"

"The honest truth, and nothing but."

A pause.

"Well, sometimes I don't care if silver clashes with my outfit or not."

Do not talk to Eggsy about clashing outfits. Look at his tracksuit. It was awful and gaudy.

"Fuck. That's a new one."

It was a pretty disastrous thing to be wearing, but Ezra thought he should wait on trying to introduce a makeover until later.

"I'm sure it is, darling," he said. "I'd offer proof through demonstration, but I think they frown upon me getting naked in the middle of a picnic."

Rude. You're not his sugar daddy, Ezra.

Eggsy would have been making a face at the 'darling' but now he was busy being okay with the image of Ezra dropping trou.

It had that effect on people.

"Anyway," he said. "That's the kind of weirdness you'll be encountering here. Might take a while to adjust."

"Long as it's not some kind of hazing thing?" He was sorta expecting the hazing.

"It's not a hazing thing." Hazing was weirdly unpopular at this school. "If we wanted to haze you, we'd claim this place was normal."

Oh yeah, that was probably why.

Which was another point in 'weird boarding school' right behind 'no uniforms'.

"Might buy that before I talked to a girl from space."
