Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Everyone might have been getting ready for the fall semester, but it was definitely still summertime in Fandom. The temperature was high, the wind was low, and it was only going to get hotter once everyone arrived.

There were chairs and tables set out around the lawn, some in shady spots and some out in the sun, and there was a long table of moddable food culminating in a table full of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet choices. There were also stacks of nametags for people to label themselves with, and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything in order, it was time to welcome some new people!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Isabela...had no idea what was going on, apart from some kind of picnic, but they seems to have been expecting her, and had given her some kind of sticky parchment with 'Isabela' written on it, so she figured she might as well stick around to see if anything interesting happened.

A short girl with her hair done up in pigtails seemed to be looking at peoples' sticky parchments, as if searching for someone. When she saw Isabela's, she grinned suddenly and started walking over with a sense of purpose.

"Hi!"

Isabela looked down,a t least one them knew what they were doing. "Hello."

"You're Isabela, right?" Couldn't hurt to check. Not that Ringo waited for an answer before plunging on. "I'm Ringo Noyamano." She paused, offering the other girl a polite bow. "It's very nice to meet you."

"That's me," Isabela said, returning the bow. Hope you liked cleavage, Ringo. "Likewise, I'm sure."

Ringo was pretty curvaceous herself, but Isabela was something else.

She straightened up, managing not to stare. Because that'd be rude. "Um, hi." She'd already said that. "I've been assigned to be your big sister while you're here!"

Wasn't that a helpful explanation?

If Isabela cared about being stared at, she'd dress very differently.

"That sounds grand." Even if Isabela was reasonably sure she was older than the other girl. "Where is here, anyway?"

Well, Ringo did kind of give off an aura of being about 15 or so, and she was pretty short, so "big sister" was perhaps a bit of an inaccurate description.

And now she was blinking. "Oh! You weren't planning on being here, were you?" She offered a sort of helpless smile. "Welcome to Fandom Island."

"I'm afraid not, kitten," Isabela said. "I hadn't even heard of a Fandom Island until today."

"Oh." Ringo was a bit taken aback at being called 'kitten', but that was more surprise than anything else. She grinned suddenly. "Well, you'll probably like it! Um... do you have any questions, or should I jusst try to give you a general rundown of the whole thing?"

Be glad she wasn't Varric, or there'd be a nickname she'd never get rid of with the week.

"A rundown might be best." Then she could figure out which questions to ask.

Hmm... where to start.

Ringo thought for a moment, then nodded. "Okay."

"So Fandom Island is a small island off the east coast of the United States. The main thing here is a boarding school, which presumably you'll be attending." She frowned slightly. "Did anyone give you a class schedule or anything?"

Isabela's main take-away were 'small island', 'east coast' and 'school'. She'd never actually attended any kind of school before, this should be interesting.

"There may have been a bundle of papers," she said. It was around here somewhere.

Ringo laughed. "Well, you probably have a schedule in there somewhere? That tells you when your classes are. And maybe your roommate assignment?"

"I got told there's a list," Isabela said. "I'm guessing it's where that crowd of annoyed looking people are."

"Could be," Ringo agreed, glancing over that way with a grin. "We can go check it out later, if you want."

"I don't know about you, but it took me a little while to get used to a roommate, but it totally worked out eventually." So don't stress about it, Isabela.
