Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Everyone might have been getting ready for the fall semester, but it was definitely still summertime in Fandom. The temperature was high, the wind was low, and it was only going to get hotter once everyone arrived.

There were chairs and tables set out around the lawn, some in shady spots and some out in the sun, and there was a long table of moddable food culminating in a table full of ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet choices. There were also stacks of nametags for people to label themselves with, and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything in order, it was time to welcome some new people!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Are you teaching?"

Hi, Jono. Parker remembers you. Hellos are for people she hasn't met. Well. Sometimes.
furnaceface: (Told you so)

//Always,// Jono replied, giving a little nod in Parker's direction. //Except when I'm not.//

It was okay, Parker. Jono knew plenty of abrupt people. It was kind of endearing, with most of said persons, anyway.

//Yourself?//

"Yup," Parker almost chirped. This was the chocolate talking, to some extent. "With my boyfriends. Instead of just one of them. Teamwork!" And punch the air! "We're teaching that. What about you?"

Oh, lord, her enthusiasm was delightful, wasn't it?

//Inspiration,// Jono replied, amused. //Which is mostly just a fancy way of saying we're going on field trips with some arts and crafts time thrown in for good measure. And I'll be teaching it with my partner, actually. Seems like a good arrangement all around.//

"Who's your partner?" Parker paused and added, "Eliot and Hardison are my boyfriends. I don't remember if I told you. But they get mentioned on the Radio a lot."

So do you, Parker, just not as much as you would if you weren't sneakily hiding in air ducts.
furnaceface: (Orly?)

//I remember us talking about Eliot and Hardison,// Jono mused, //though I was somewhat woman-shaped at the time. You three seem to be good for one another... I'm glad you're all getting on so well. My partner is Hannibal. Er, Doctor Lecter? Though I never call him that, obviously.//

Unless he was playing coy and being a brat, anyway.

"Oh him!" Psychiatrist guy with the food. And the little sister. Whose wallet she'd stolen and given back. (Lecter, not his sister.) "He's cool. For a psychiatrist type. So you're taking them off-island?" Parker mused for a moment. "We did a lot of that this summer, but with Hardison teaching with us, it'll probably be more Danger Shop thingies now." Which he loved, so why thwart that.

//Off island,// Jono confirmed. //Volcanoes, conservatoires, concerts, things like that. The danger shop is fine for what it is, but it's less... authentic. Or maybe I've just been spoiled, having it around so long.//

Totally possible.

"No actual danger," Parker had to agree. "Nothing unexpected. Not for the teachers, anyway. Good for teaching some things, not for others." She cocked her head. "Volcanoes?" Ooooooo. "Could I crash your class when you do that one?"

//Don't see why not,// Jono mused. //We saw two of them back during the summertime, I can only imagine they won't be the last. Hell, you're note even the first teacher to ask to tag along at some point. And more chaperones can't hurt. Especially not after that incident with the Gargle Blaster...//

Sigh, Hannibal.

"What's a Gargle Blaster?" Parker asked, intrigued.

//Quite possibly the worst choice I've ever seen a student make,// Jono explained. //Some sort of deep space end of the universe drink. Hit him like a gold brick wrapped in a lemon slice.//

Parker gave a sad head-shake. "That's worse than getting hit with a diamond brick. Or anything besides lead. And I bet the gold tastes better, but still. Students."

Seriously, students. Chocolate had no hangovers! What are you thinking?

//Students,// Jono agreed. //Though I suppose if nothing else, you only get to see the end of the universe once. Probably. Might as well make the best of it.//

Jono was not necessarily the best role model for these kids, some days.
