Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Whoever worked their magic to ensure that the welcome picnics had nice weather had cut their mojo very close this time around. The weather was lovely today - sunny and hot enough to make it clear that summer in Fandom had finally begun - but the overnight thunderstorms had left puddles all over the lawn that hadn't quite dried up yet.

Still, the tables and chairs had managed to be scattered around, along with the buffet table of moddable food and drinks, and the information table with name tags, the Big and Little Sibling list, and the list of new roommates. The only thing missing was people to enjoy the festivities!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

So the school assigned siblings. Raven wondered if it was part of some sort of Greek system. She made sure her name badge was nice and visible, then spent some time straightening her skirt and adjusting her scarf.

Appearances, she knew, were everything, and she wanted to make sure hers was as perfect as possible.

Bay was officially not a new kid anymore, and she was even going to have a school-sanctioned little brother to prove it. She made sure her nametag was nicely decorated and visible and then waited for Theo.

She wouldn't even try to break him too badly.

Gert had an assigned sibling this time, so she made sure to look out for an Alexandra Jones. And because she was nice, she had Old Lace keep her distance for a bit; if the kid had trouble buying all the Fandom stuff, she could always have her dinosaur come on over as an example of how weird things were, but she didn't want to spook this new girl unnecessarily right from the get-go.

Someone had directed Snow over to the information tables, and she was still in a daze. Everything was so strange, and yet she somehow had been expected. There'd been a name tag waiting for her, and a list of the classes she'd been assigned to. None of this made sense. But for the moment, at least, she was happy to be free to move about wherever she wanted. She wasn't sure how long it would last.

She'd always wanted a brother or sister, so she looked around to find the one this strange school had allegedly assigned to her.

Sia had done this before, so she made sure that her nametag was clearly displayed and that she was looking friendly enough as she went looking for someone named Anya.

Toby was pretty sure that meant he'd ended up with a girl this time around. Really, though, being a foster kid meant he'd had roommates most of his life, so... as long as she didn't steal his stuff, okay.

Theo, Raven though, was a very unusual name for a girl. Maybe it was short for Theodora?

She hoped there hadn't been a paperwork mix up. She certainly could be a boy if she wanted to, but the idea didn't appeal to her in the long term.

Alex glanced at the roomate assignment list, specifically for her name and the name next to hers. She then looked for a name tag with Anya written on it.

She'd never had a roommate before, so she wasn't quite sure what to expect.

Pinkie was already super buzzed from getting to drive the shuttle from the airport, and now here she got to meet and welcome another new teacher! She had her welcome wagon all set up and ready, and she'd triple checked to make sure she put the cake batter in the oven and the confetti in the air cannons, this time.

There'd be no firing of cake batter at her new teaching buddy this time, no sirree!

Thor had a buddy! A teaching buddy!

Because somehow, someone, in their infinite wisdom, had concluded that since Thor had now been responsible for the education of several dozen youngsters and had not, in fact, screwed that up, he was clearly responsible enough to mentor another teacher.

Of course, he was also pleased to just chat with other non-teaching-buddy teachers. Or students.

And eat the food, of course. Because Fandom knew how to throw a good feast.

Ender wasn't exactly happy to be here, but he had a lifetime's practice at keeping on a poker face. He stood there looking friendly, but not particularly approachable - his hands clasped behind his back in a subconscious military stance.

True to med staff's word, Kaidan was back in mostly healthy shape by the time the picnic rolled around. His arm still ached and there were still remnants of bruises visible on his face, but neither were exactly a problem.

He kept his eyes on the students as they milled around. Nothing terrible had happened at a newbie picnic yet - but there was always a chance.

This marked Jack's second picnic as a teacher; any more of these, and he'd start feeling like quite the old hand. He took some muffins and fruit and watched the people mill about, trying to suss out who (if any) among the newcomers might be more interesting than usual.

So Ben was a teacher now (thanks, Portalocity, for that). In deference to his new position, he was not trying to eat the entire buffet today, but he definitely had a plateful of treats he hadn't seen a lot of on Shakespeare.

Mmm, processed food.

Josh, remembering the spread from the last picnic, had no problem getting up early on a Saturday to head down and meet the new students.

He had one of the finest muffins in all the land in his hand as he looked for new faces in the crowd--especially any who looked particularly dazed after meeting a talking pink pony...

Bruce... had not known that there was going to be a giant picnic full of people (and ponies and dinosaurs), and he sort of wished he'd been able to prepare for this, because crowds of strangers were not his specialty.

He hung off to the side, wondering around when it would be acceptable to excuse himself from this social anxiety nightmare.

Right. He was teaching this term or something.

It was possible that John was going to send to Hell whatever administrator had decided to give him a class. Oh, he was here, doing his adult duty and all that, but that didn't mean he had to like it.

Derek had found the darkest part of the place to lurk. Off on the edge of the crowd. Because he was the creepiest of all the teachers.

So, Dean was trying his hand at teaching. Which meant he should probably show up for this whole picnic thing.

On the plus side? Free food. Which he was taking liberal advantage of.

Clint had to admit, half the fun of these picnics was the free food. He had coffee and a full plate of a variety of things that probably didn't go together, but "free" meant that really didn't matter. Now he was prepared to face this day and whatever weirdness might come up.
