Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Whoever worked their magic to ensure that the welcome picnics had nice weather had cut their mojo very close this time around. The weather was lovely today - sunny and hot enough to make it clear that summer in Fandom had finally begun - but the overnight thunderstorms had left puddles all over the lawn that hadn't quite dried up yet.

Still, the tables and chairs had managed to be scattered around, along with the buffet table of moddable food and drinks, and the information table with name tags, the Big and Little Sibling list, and the list of new roommates. The only thing missing was people to enjoy the festivities!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Ender wasn't exactly happy to be here, but he had a lifetime's practice at keeping on a poker face. He stood there looking friendly, but not particularly approachable - his hands clasped behind his back in a subconscious military stance.

Sigh.

There was a glint of overplayed enthusiasm in Peter's eye as he approached. "You didn't tell me you were coming back for another swing at the ol' island!"

Ender sighed audibly. "Hello, Peter."

"So what are you doing here, kid?" Peter asked, coming to a stop right in front of him.

Ender had to fight the urge to roll his eyes at Peter's frankly adolescent attempt at a physical power play. He forced his body to relax - not tense up, because he didn't want to have a stupid testosterone-off with Peter, but he also couldn't step away and admit defeat.

"Portalocity incident," he said, keeping his voice light and conversational. "They're stranding us here for a few months while they take a look at my universe. You might want to check with them and see if your own is at risk for similar problems."
