Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Whoever worked their magic to ensure that the welcome picnics had nice weather had cut their mojo very close this time around. The weather was lovely today - sunny and hot enough to make it clear that summer in Fandom had finally begun - but the overnight thunderstorms had left puddles all over the lawn that hadn't quite dried up yet.

Still, the tables and chairs had managed to be scattered around, along with the buffet table of moddable food and drinks, and the information table with name tags, the Big and Little Sibling list, and the list of new roommates. The only thing missing was people to enjoy the festivities!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"I dunno, maybe?" Theo rubbed the back of his neck and winced apologetically. "I could...put in for a change if it makes you uncomfortable?"

"That's a very nice thing to do, Theo," Ange said, nodding her approval.

"Nice and DUMB!" Dev chimed in. "She's a girl! We wanna live with a girl!"

Theo ignored them.

The fifties "good girl" trained into Raven warred with her natural rebel. "Oh, I don't know," she said. "I'm sure we can work it out. I have a brother back home, so I'm used to boys." Charles' home was large enough that they'd never had to even share a FLOOR if they didn't want to, but Raven was nothing if not adaptable.

She was already planning how to avoid being BLUE in front of a roommate, after all. Naked was nothing.

"I'm pretty harmless."

More or less but he could try and be reassuring.

"And you're one up on me. Never lived with a girl before. Mostly lived alone."

His parents were pretty...not there.

"I promise to be patient," Raven assured him. "And if you can't stand it, I'm sure they'll let us switch later."

"So, then, it's good to meet you," Theo told her, extending a hand. "Theo Langstrom."

Raven shook his hand. "Raven Darkholme. So where are you from, Theo?"

"Santa Monica, California," he answered. "So, from all the way across the country and then some. I went coast to coast. What about you?"

"I've always wanted to see California!" Raven said. "I'm from New York. Westchester? It's a little ways outside the city. So no coast hopping for me, yet. Someday."

"Everyone should see California at least once," Theo agreed, nodding. "It's hot, though, so bring sunscreen."

Theo tended to need a lot of sunscreen.

"But, I've always wanted to see New York too. Heard it's crowded. It'll have that in common with California."

Raven tilted her head. "Sunscreen?" She wasn't entirely familiar with that term. "Couldn't I just wear a hat?"

"Well yeah, but how would you protect your arms and legs?" Theo wondered. "Have they invented hats for those too?"

"Why would I do that?" Raven asked, honestly curious. "A tan might be nice."

She could actually have whatever kind of tan she wanted without the sun's assistance at all, but it wasn't like she was about to tell him that.

"You're right, it could," Theo agreed with a nod. "I just know I don't tan. I tend to sunburn and then I look like a tomato. It's not a good look. Or feeling."

Raven winced in sympathy, though she'd never burned, herself. Scaly blue skin was fairly sun resistant. "Well, I'll be sure to remember your advice, then. Thank you."
