Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Whoever worked their magic to ensure that the welcome picnics had nice weather had cut their mojo very close this time around. The weather was lovely today - sunny and hot enough to make it clear that summer in Fandom had finally begun - but the overnight thunderstorms had left puddles all over the lawn that hadn't quite dried up yet.

Still, the tables and chairs had managed to be scattered around, along with the buffet table of moddable food and drinks, and the information table with name tags, the Big and Little Sibling list, and the list of new roommates. The only thing missing was people to enjoy the festivities!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"You can give me the rest. I can take it." Still, she braced herself.

"So, on top of this just being a weird place full of weird people, there's some pretty weird stuff that happens from time to time," Gert reported. "Like, you might turn into a lizard or a guy for a weekend at some point. Or everyone in town might be teleported to a cave full of monsters for a while. It's pretty shitty, but you should be aware."

All of this sounded so insane, but so did a dinosaur and weird places and times. She went with it, mostly because she kind of had to. It wasn't like she was going anywhere for awhile.

"A cave full of monsters. Sounds like you speak from experience." It was an observation more than a question.

"It was a dungeon," Gert admitted, "But otherwise, yeah, pretty much."

Sorry, Alex?

All Alex could do was tell herself she'd been through so a lot already. There wasn't much she couldn't handle. "Well, I guess it's better to be aware than not to be."

"Basically," Gert agreed. "So... yeah. Be on the lookout for that."

Hm. Was there anything else she should say?

"Other than that, I'm in 229 if you ever need to find me," she added. "And my number's 555-4378."

"If I have any more questions, I know who to ask. Thanks," Alex said appreciatively. "I guess I'll just have to embrace the weird."

"Good luck with that," Gert said sincerely. "It might be a while yet. Just warning you."

"Thanks for the warning," Alex added. "So, I guess I'll see you around."

Apparently, she had more weirdness to explore. Or something.

"Almost definitely," Gert assured her. "The class schedules here are pretty relaxed. There's a lot of social time."
