BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Spirit's ride to the island had been settled and Adora was trying very hard not to be nervous while she waited for the Fandom transport to arrive. Looking out the airport window, Adora realized she'd never seen so many fleets of vehicles in all her life that weren't involved in some sort of insurrection, and found herself desperately hoping her mother was right about this Earth place being safe from the Horde.

Just the thought of her family calmed Adora and she instinctively reached to touch the Sword of Protection where it was hidden by her hair and clothing, feeling that no matter where she was, she always had a way to contact the people she loved.

Now if only she knew for sure that this room marked "Fandom High" was really where she needed to be. Adora paced the large space as she waited, thinking she couldn't possibly be the only new student journeying to campus in this manner.

Priestly's parents had been kind enough not to send him over on the red-eye and get him a hotel room for the night so he'd be nice and "fresh" to face his first day at the boarding school they were hoping would "straighten him out".

He was just glad his mom hadn't insisted on packing for him, or coming with him to Maryland. She'd never have let him show up for his ride to the school sporting a blue mohawk, a kilt, and a black t-shirt reading "veggieburger = veggiemurder".

He wanted to make a good first impression.

He looked at the sign, then down at the paper his dad had given him with his travel itinerary and a few short words on his new school.

"Fandom High." He sighed, crumpled the paper, and looked around. "Great."

Adora looked at the boy and wondered what the strange words on his shirt meant.

"Yes! I have heard the school is great. I am Adora, you are also a new student?"

Claudia was soooo excited to be traveling! She'd taken the shuttle out of Laguardia and had decided to use the move as inspiration for her wardrobe today: a moving man's red jumpsuit with "Harvey" written on the pocket, black Chuck Taylors, and a railroad conductor's hat over her long black hair, which she'd chosen to let hang loose today. The jumpsuit was accessorized with a belt made out of duct tape, a paper maiché snake bracelet from junior high that had held up remarkably well, and dangly metallic earrings that had set off the detector. On anyone else, the outfit would have been a cry for help. On Claudia, it looked great.

She dragged the three bags of luggage she'd brought with her--the rest was being shipped--and gave the sign a long look before sitting down. "I think I'm in the right place."

Priestly turned and let out a low whistle. "Dude," he said. "I hope you are. I love the jumpsuit."

Dressed in simple tight pants and shirt, Adora had never seen anyone wearing such complicated clothes. But she smiled brightly at the newly arrived friend. "I am Adora, are you looking for the Fandom shuttle as well?"

Emmett was standing in the shadows, watching everyone else as they gathered. Rap was blasting from his ipod but he only had one ear bud in so he could hear what everyone was saying. He was mostly covered (just in case it got really sunny), wearing a hoodie and gloves.

He was also wearing one of his favorite hats (http://www.meshhat.com/moutrhatmeha.html). Sideways, of course. Esme would probably kill him if she knew he was wearing it, but what mom didn't know didn't hurt her.

Adora was intent on meeting all the new friends Fandom had to offer and walked over to the impressively large man with no fear. "Hello there, friend. I am Adora. Are you also attending the Fandom school?"

It took Claudia a moment to understand the hat, but when she did, she cracked up. "Nice hat."

The nice thing about being a Jedi Padawan sent to a distant school past the edge of known space was that you didn't need to carry much. Just a few changes of robes, a datapad to keep as a journal or for work, and his lightsaber on his belt, and Zayne was theoretically prepared.

Now he just had to hope he was in the right place.

"Hello, friend!" Adora greeted the boy with a smile that spoke of her excitement about the journey they were all undertaking together. "I am Adora. Could I help you get your bags from somewhere?"

Hey, it totally made sense to him. People on the East Coast probably did that sort of thing.

K-Mart just paced back and forth, duffel bag slung over one shoulder. She wasn't at all she was going to like this place, but Claire had damn near exhausted herself finding a way for K-Mart to be normal, so by God she was going to try and enjoy it!

... or just flail a whole lotta.

Sookie hadn't ever been on a plane before, and while it had certainly been an experience to remember, she was glad to be off it and away from such a confined space.

She'd kept her mental shields up the majority of the flight, out of necessity -- people tended to be kind of anxious in the air, she found -- and they were still up now. She looked around, keeping her mind to herself, as surveyed all the other people around her.

"...I guess these are my classmates," she said under her breath, taking in the...array of characters.

Dinah had dragged her bags over to the shuttle stop, and looked around anxiously, hoping she hadn't missed the bus. Or that she wouldn't be here too long. And wondering if her jacket was okay. Maybe it looked too tough? Or maybe too last-year? And wow, could she get any more spastic? Maybe that last Diet Coke (or three) was a mistake.

She took out the brochure for the school again, and tried to reassure herself that hey, it would all be just fine! Really!

A nervous-looking girl stepped into the space, wearing a hat to conceal her hair (or rather, lack thereof) and pulling a giant suitcase behind her. She consulted the itenerary her mother had given her when she'd told her about this school that could deal with her 'problem,' then looked around, wondering what was up with all of these people, if they were headed to the same place.

She cleared her throat and asked, "Is this where I can catch the bus to Fandom High?"

There was a tired and jetlagged Deadpool waiting with a sign that read Fandom High Students in big bold letters.

And, if you read closely, there might have been something scribbled beneath it about abandoning hope all ye who enter. With more than a few extra e's to make it more spooky and Olde English like.
