BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Spirit's ride to the island had been settled and Adora was trying very hard not to be nervous while she waited for the Fandom transport to arrive. Looking out the airport window, Adora realized she'd never seen so many fleets of vehicles in all her life that weren't involved in some sort of insurrection, and found herself desperately hoping her mother was right about this Earth place being safe from the Horde.

Just the thought of her family calmed Adora and she instinctively reached to touch the Sword of Protection where it was hidden by her hair and clothing, feeling that no matter where she was, she always had a way to contact the people she loved.

Now if only she knew for sure that this room marked "Fandom High" was really where she needed to be. Adora paced the large space as she waited, thinking she couldn't possibly be the only new student journeying to campus in this manner.

[OOC: There is wee ocd coming ready!!]

Dinah held up two cutely-wrapped in waxpaper with little stickers on them, and said, "Walnuts or no walnuts? Oh, and want a drink?" She fished out her fourth Diet Coke of the day, and said, "No reason to waste money on the vending machines." She added a little fruit cup to the brownie, and a spoon, then fished out a mini-sandwich for herself. "I'm going to miss this. I'll have to write Alfred and tell him to keep sending care packages."

"Walnuts," Jill decided as she took the food, "and sure, I'd love a drink. Thanks. And if he doesn't keep sending 'em, let me know and I'll write him, too, wow. I think I want an Alfred." Doesn't everyone?

Dinah handed them over and then a nice cool soda, and settled in to munch happily. "So, where are you from? And what class are you in? I'm a junior." She took a bite of the bruschetta, and said, "Alfred's a chef. An a genius. And I'm totally going to miss him while I'm here. He does the greatest brunch ever."
iamnotallgirl: (Jill is happy)

"I'm a junior, too, actually," Jill said. "I'm from Massachusetts. You?" OMG this was a really good brownie.

"New Gotham. Well, before that I was from the Midwest." Opal, Missouri, Zipper capital of the world! Not that she'd be introducing herself that way again. "But New Gotham for the last year. Mmmmmm." She took a moment to just appreciate the brownie and sighed happily. "I'm glad to not be the only one switching schools. That always sucks."

"I've never heard of New Gotham," Jill admitted. "Is that, like, part of New York? And I've never switched schools before; I've lived in the same place all my life, but...well." She fiddled with her brownie wrapper.

"New Jersey," and Dinah frowned as she bit into her brownie. Jill was the second person to have never heard of New Gotham City home to, what, 8 million people? That was just... weird. "Kind of close to New York, yeah, on the Hudson." She swallowed, and noticed Jill's fiddling. "It'll be okay, you know. It looks really pretty from the photos, and..." Well, what else was there to say? "It just takes getting used to." She took another mournful bite of the brownie. Alfred and Barbara and Helena all seemed really far away.

"Yeah," Jill said, trying to look on the bright side. "And at least we already know some people," she added, gesturing around the room. "I'm sorry, I guess New Jersey just, like, all blends together into 'New Jersey' for me."

"No problem! Sookie over there hadn't heard of it either." Dinah nodded over to one of the other blonde girls. "that's why they joke about 'what exit are you from?' And hey, maybe we'll have some classes together, if we're both juniors. That'd be good."

"Maybe!" Jill said. "And at least we'll see each other in the dorms and stuff, right?"

No one had told Jill there would be roommates, yet. Let's keep it that way for a little longer.

"And study hall, and lunch. And maybe we'll get lucky and they'll have some fun clubs or something," Dinah said, talking herself down from her own anxiety again. "There's supposed to be some kind of welcome thing when we get there, I think? Orientation. So they'll have to explain stuff to us then."

"Yeah, and I think there's supposed to be food at orientation," Jill said. "Probably not as good as this brownie, though."
