BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Spirit's ride to the island had been settled and Adora was trying very hard not to be nervous while she waited for the Fandom transport to arrive. Looking out the airport window, Adora realized she'd never seen so many fleets of vehicles in all her life that weren't involved in some sort of insurrection, and found herself desperately hoping her mother was right about this Earth place being safe from the Horde.

Just the thought of her family calmed Adora and she instinctively reached to touch the Sword of Protection where it was hidden by her hair and clothing, feeling that no matter where she was, she always had a way to contact the people she loved.

Now if only she knew for sure that this room marked "Fandom High" was really where she needed to be. Adora paced the large space as she waited, thinking she couldn't possibly be the only new student journeying to campus in this manner.

Sookie smiled a little, taking in the boy's hair and clothes, and waved back. She resisted the initial urge to reach out with her mind, at least for the moment. "Hi," she called.

"Hey," Priestly called back, then wandered over. "I'm Priestly."

"Sookie," she said with a smile, waving again a little awkwardly. "Nice to meet you. Are you heading to this Fandom place, too?"

"Yeah, I figured, I just didn't wanna ask the one guy in the midst of all of us who was going to Baltimore to visit his aunt or something," Sookie said, shrugging and lowering her mental shields just a little bit to see if she could pick anything up from him.

Manic, nervous energy, probably. He was taking in just about everything he could see, and bracing himself to deal with someone judging him the wrong way based on his outfit.

Outwardly, he just laughed. "Good point. So where ya from?"

"Bon Temps, Louisiana," she said, trying to make her smile more reassuring. "You? I like your hair, by the way." And she really did. It was way more interesting than how anyone dressed at home.

Priestly grinned at her genuine tone. "Thanks! I'm from Santa Cruz. California. Never been to the east coast, before."

"Me neither," she admitted. "Actually, I've never even been this far from home at all."

"So this must be a pretty big adventure for you, then."

"Something like that. You must already miss California. Was it sunny there before you left?" she asked, maybe just a little enviously.

"Yeah. Actually, a friend of mine took me down to the beach for a sort of last hurrah."

Priestly definitely was going to miss that.

"Awwwwwwww." That just reminded Sookie how much she was going to miss Tara. And Jason. And Gran. "Well, at least you'll have a beach here, too. Though I guess it probably isn't quite the same as the Pacific."

"Yeah. No elephant seals, for one. That might not be a bad thing."

"Those're the ugly ones with the floppy noses, right?" Sookie asked, remembering from a book. "I always thought seals were awful cute, 'cept those. Poor things just fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down."

"Well, hey, that's not their fault. I just don't like 'em 'cause they kinda take up the whole beach when they wanna take naps."

"Not even a little."

Actually, elephant seals weren't too much of a problem on the Santa Cruz beaches. But Priestly had seen them once or twice on trips and always thought it was kind of a shame that they took over the place.
