BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Spirit's ride to the island had been settled and Adora was trying very hard not to be nervous while she waited for the Fandom transport to arrive. Looking out the airport window, Adora realized she'd never seen so many fleets of vehicles in all her life that weren't involved in some sort of insurrection, and found herself desperately hoping her mother was right about this Earth place being safe from the Horde.

Just the thought of her family calmed Adora and she instinctively reached to touch the Sword of Protection where it was hidden by her hair and clothing, feeling that no matter where she was, she always had a way to contact the people she loved.

Now if only she knew for sure that this room marked "Fandom High" was really where she needed to be. Adora paced the large space as she waited, thinking she couldn't possibly be the only new student journeying to campus in this manner.

Jill stared at him, at his hair, and then at his, "Um, why are you wearing a skirt?"

Priestly grinned. "It's a kilt."

As far as Jill was concerned, 'kilt' was just another word for 'skirt.' "Okay," she said. "Whatever." Then she realized she was being rude, and her mother would disapprove--not that her mother probably would have minded her being rude to a guy in a skirt, actually. "I'm Jill," she told Priestly. "Jill McTeague."

Priestly prickled slightly at the "whatever". He figured the general acceptance of his look was too good to be true.

But, well, at least she was kind of trying?

Her best friend was named Raimie; she could believe it. "Hi, Priestly. It's nice to meet you."

Jill waved her hand vaguely as her mun cursed her sudden inability to remember the name of the town and said, "Little nothing town in Massachusetts. You?"

"Wow, California," Jill said wistfully. "I bet it doesn't snow there, huh?"

"Nope. It can get kinda cold, but we're snow free."

"Lucky," Jill grumbled. "It's probably snowing right now at home. And we even have a little ski hill, so of course everybody thinks I should know how to ski."

"I can't," Jill said. "I'm hopeless." She pointed to the scar on her chin. "See this? Figure skating."

Priestly noted the scar and nodded. "Seen some nasty spills from people on rollerblades. Must suck to add ice into that."

"Those skates are sharp," Jill said with a firm nod.

Jill nodded glumly. "I told you, I'm really not cut out for sports. Disasters happen."

"Sure, impressive in a totally mal way," Jill said, a hint of a smile turning up one corner of her mouth. If drawn out enough she could smile at her own ineptitude.

It was so a skirt. "And mine's making a fool of myself through athletic pursuits. Well, that and calculus, but I don't think that's being offered this semester. How about you?"
