BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Spirit's ride to the island had been settled and Adora was trying very hard not to be nervous while she waited for the Fandom transport to arrive. Looking out the airport window, Adora realized she'd never seen so many fleets of vehicles in all her life that weren't involved in some sort of insurrection, and found herself desperately hoping her mother was right about this Earth place being safe from the Horde.

Just the thought of her family calmed Adora and she instinctively reached to touch the Sword of Protection where it was hidden by her hair and clothing, feeling that no matter where she was, she always had a way to contact the people she loved.

Now if only she knew for sure that this room marked "Fandom High" was really where she needed to be. Adora paced the large space as she waited, thinking she couldn't possibly be the only new student journeying to campus in this manner.

Priestly grinned. "What do you think I should offer?"

"Pants?" Jill dared to snark.

"Bah." Priestly snorted. "And again, you insult the kilt."

Jill held up her hands defensively. "Just a suggestion!"

"Oh, I've got pants. Kilt's more fun."

"You're gonna be really cold," Jill told him.

"Just makes it more manly."

Er. Or something.

"You keep telling yourself that," Jill said with a grin.

"You have no idea what this kilt represents, do you."

"Other than a strange disdain for pants?"

"You assume because I'm wearing a kilt the first time you meet me that I never wear pants." Priestly shook his head. "You have so much to learn."

"Most guys wear pants one hundred percent of the time," Jill pointed out. "You clearly wear them less than one hundred percent of the time. Ergo. And you're still going to be cold, unless you plan to change on the bus. It snows sometimes in Maryland, you know."

"Snows more than some of the time in Scotland, and yet that's where these things were invented." Priestly shrugged. "And why should I care what most boys do?"

"My ancestors were crazy," Jill observed. "Good to know. I don't know, maybe to get along in a little thing called 'polite society'?"

"Wow. You're completely brainwashed by the man. What has 'polite society' ever really done for you?"

"I am not brainwashed!" Jill said defensively. "And....lots of stuff!"

"Uh huh. Name one thing."

"Democracy."

Priestly rolled his eyes. "First off, the US? Is really not the democracy they want you to think it is. Second, 'polite society' has nothing to do with setting up governments, just with enforcing petty rules that don't mean anything to anyone -- like guys not wearing eye liner."

"It also has to do with little social niceties like people not asking nosy questions about my condition," Jill said shortly, and then her mouth snapped shut like she couldn't believe she'd said that.

Priestly frowned at that. She didn't look sick or anything . . . but he obviously couldn't ask, since she just got all snappish about people being nosy about it.

"Okay, and what the hell does that have to do with a guy wanting to wear pants?"
