BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Spirit's ride to the island had been settled and Adora was trying very hard not to be nervous while she waited for the Fandom transport to arrive. Looking out the airport window, Adora realized she'd never seen so many fleets of vehicles in all her life that weren't involved in some sort of insurrection, and found herself desperately hoping her mother was right about this Earth place being safe from the Horde.

Just the thought of her family calmed Adora and she instinctively reached to touch the Sword of Protection where it was hidden by her hair and clothing, feeling that no matter where she was, she always had a way to contact the people she loved.

Now if only she knew for sure that this room marked "Fandom High" was really where she needed to be. Adora paced the large space as she waited, thinking she couldn't possibly be the only new student journeying to campus in this manner.

[OOC: There is wee ocd coming ready!!]

Dinah had dragged her bags over to the shuttle stop, and looked around anxiously, hoping she hadn't missed the bus. Or that she wouldn't be here too long. And wondering if her jacket was okay. Maybe it looked too tough? Or maybe too last-year? And wow, could she get any more spastic? Maybe that last Diet Coke (or three) was a mistake.

She took out the brochure for the school again, and tried to reassure herself that hey, it would all be just fine! Really!

Priestly was making a circuit of the area and paused near Dinah. "If you're looking for the Fandom shuttle, you're in the right place."

"OhthankGod," Dinah mumbled in relief, then looked up with a big smile. Which tilted sideways, then widened at his outfit. "So, I'm thinking this isn't much like a military academy?"

"Good god, I hope not. I'm not shaving this goatee for nobody."

Dinah laughed and held out one hand. "I'm pretty sure it's not. Helena wouldn't have let me go somewhere that they'd make me put my hair in a bun. I'm Dinah."

"Priestly." It had worked on Claudia, so Priestly went for the gentlemanly hand-kiss again. "Nice to meet you."

"Wow. Hi!" Any thoughts Dinah might have picked up were buried in a mental squee! "It's nice to meet you! I mean. You know. Nice." Shut uuuup, Dinah. "So, yeah, your parents, sent you here 'cause of...?"

"I got lucky, one quick flight, and bamf! Here I am," Dinah smiling hopefully. "Where are you coming from? And also, hi! I'm Dinah."

There, that wasn't too nervous, right?

"Etheria? Is that on the west coast?" Dinah wondered, relaxing incrementally. "And you've got a horse? Cool. And they let you bring it?" The more she heard about this place, the less strict it sounded. Maybe this wouldn't be too bad.

"Cool name," Dinah said, getting a little more enthusiastic. "I've never even had goldfish. Or a plant. So, why are you going to school here?"

Zayne wasn't sure what exactly he'd been expecting, but his Jedi class on Taris was five people. This was already getting to be more than he expected, and this was only the new people? School would certainly be interesting.

"Hi there," he said, walking up to the new girl. "Are you going to Fandom too?"

Re: Waiting for the Shuttle

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes! Hi!" Every person who was going to Fandom was one less reason for Dinah to get panicky that the bus would leave without her. Also: cute guy. "I'm Dinah. You're new too?" She blinked at his clothes, but compared to Priestley's kilt and mohawk, not that big a deal. "Where are you from?"

"I'm from really far away from here," Zayne said. He was learning that the whole other galaxy thing was a little weird to people, so he was going to lead up to that a little more slowly from now on. "Zayne. It's nice to meet you."

"Good to meet you too!" Dinah grinned again, fishing a brownie out of her cooler. "Want a snack? It'll keep you from knocking over the vending machines until the shuttle gets here. My friend who made it is a chef. World-class. And who knows what they'll feed us when we get there."

Re: Waiting for the Shuttle

[identity profile] cataclysmicluck.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Zayne wasn't particularly hungry, but he didn't want to be rude. "I don't think the vending machines are in any danger from me, but I'll take one anyway. Thank you."

"Sure. You're welcome," Dinah said, handing one over, and taking another bite of the one she'd had out. "What class are you in? I'm a junior. At least, I should be, if this place isn't really advanced."

Claudia watched her for a moment. "M&Ms?" she offered, holding out the bag.

Re: Waiting for the Shuttle

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah startled, dropping the brochure, saying, "What?" Then, recognizing the bag, her face relaxed. And, wow. That was some brave outfit this girl had going on. "Oh, that'd be awesome. Thanks. Trade you a brownie?" she offered, opening up her little mini-cooler.

"Dinah," she said, handing over one of Alfred's specials, and taking a handful of M&M's. "I kind of love your outfit. Also, it makes me hope that this place will be okay, that no one is wearing a uniform yet."

[identity profile] gudspellr-claud.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Cute mohawk boy and I were talking about that," Claudia said. "I think it's against the law to take away our individuality and stuff."

No it wasn't.

"It should be, even if it isn't. We could totally protest if they try to make us wear plaid," Dinah agreed, popping a green M&M in her mouth. "And he is cute, isn't he? There's a *lot* of cute guys in this group," she added, sneaking looks over at Zayne and Emmett as well as Priestley.
