BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Spirit's ride to the island had been settled and Adora was trying very hard not to be nervous while she waited for the Fandom transport to arrive. Looking out the airport window, Adora realized she'd never seen so many fleets of vehicles in all her life that weren't involved in some sort of insurrection, and found herself desperately hoping her mother was right about this Earth place being safe from the Horde.

Just the thought of her family calmed Adora and she instinctively reached to touch the Sword of Protection where it was hidden by her hair and clothing, feeling that no matter where she was, she always had a way to contact the people she loved.

Now if only she knew for sure that this room marked "Fandom High" was really where she needed to be. Adora paced the large space as she waited, thinking she couldn't possibly be the only new student journeying to campus in this manner.

Claudia giggled and let him kiss her hand. "Because you're so sad to be coming here?" she guessed.

Because if he was, that would be soooo deep.

"'Cause it matches the kilt," Priestly said. "But that works, too."

[ooc: *dies*]

Claudia giggled again. "So why're you coming to the new school?"

"My parents aren't such big fans of the kilt and the hair." He tilted his head. "You?"

"A few too many D's on the last report card," she said with a shrug.

"That'd do it." He looked around. "You don't know if this place requires uniforms, do you?"

Claudia shuddered. "I hadn't even thought of that."

This was not uncommon for Claudia.

"Damn. I was hoping someone would know. I don't want to have to wear a suit."

"They couldn't possible take away accessories, though, right?" Claudia asked. "It'd be, like, communistic!"

Not a word, Claud.

"Well, that just means we'd have to be, like, freedom fighters. Like Che Guevara going up against Castro."

Oh, this was going to be ugly.

"I love Che," Claudia gushed. "Did he design your kilt?"

Wait, what?

"I don't think he did. I've got one of his t-shirts, though."

"I think I do, too," Claudia said, having no idea what she was talking about. "I'll have to check when we get to school. Where are you coming from? Other than a plane."

"Hotel room, actually. I got in super late last night. Or, okay, kinda really early this morning. From Santa Cruz."

"California?" Claudia guessed. "Please tell me you don't eat tofu and sprouts and love the earth and stuff."

Priestly looked down at his "veggieburger = veggiemurder" t-shirt and grinned. "Nah, I'm a meat-eater. But the Earth is pretty cool. And I did meet the owner of a crystal shop while hanging out with an old hippie yesterday."

"That's okay, then," Claudia decided. "I knew a girl in junior high who was super preachy about stuff like that."

Priestly wrinkled his nose. "Man, that's no fun. Everybody's gotta be able to go their own way."

"Toooootally," Claudia said enthusiastically. "I'm all about being yourself."

Unless yourself got a haircut without checking it with your friends. Details.

Naturally.

"Good to know I'm not gonna be stuck at a school surrounded by nothing but posers and tools."

"That would be terrible," Claudia agreed. "We might have to team up for support, just in case."

Smooth, Claud.

Priestly grinned. "Freedom fighters against the oppressive regime of peer pressured fools. Now that sounds like a plan."

"We could make t-shirts!" Claudia said, bouncing at the idea of a project.

Priestly could never have too many t-shirts. "With, like, a raised fist. And . . . what could represent peer pressure?"

"Hmmm," Claudia thought. "Maybe like one of those vice-looking things?"
