BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Spirit's ride to the island had been settled and Adora was trying very hard not to be nervous while she waited for the Fandom transport to arrive. Looking out the airport window, Adora realized she'd never seen so many fleets of vehicles in all her life that weren't involved in some sort of insurrection, and found herself desperately hoping her mother was right about this Earth place being safe from the Horde.

Just the thought of her family calmed Adora and she instinctively reached to touch the Sword of Protection where it was hidden by her hair and clothing, feeling that no matter where she was, she always had a way to contact the people she loved.

Now if only she knew for sure that this room marked "Fandom High" was really where she needed to be. Adora paced the large space as she waited, thinking she couldn't possibly be the only new student journeying to campus in this manner.

A nervous-looking girl stepped into the space, wearing a hat to conceal her hair (or rather, lack thereof) and pulling a giant suitcase behind her. She consulted the itenerary her mother had given her when she'd told her about this school that could deal with her 'problem,' then looked around, wondering what was up with all of these people, if they were headed to the same place.

She cleared her throat and asked, "Is this where I can catch the bus to Fandom High?"

Jill stared at him, at his hair, and then at his, "Um, why are you wearing a skirt?"

As far as Jill was concerned, 'kilt' was just another word for 'skirt.' "Okay," she said. "Whatever." Then she realized she was being rude, and her mother would disapprove--not that her mother probably would have minded her being rude to a guy in a skirt, actually. "I'm Jill," she told Priestly. "Jill McTeague."

Priestly prickled slightly at the "whatever". He figured the general acceptance of his look was too good to be true.

But, well, at least she was kind of trying?

"Priestly."

"Hey," Dinah said, a little less nervous than she had been. "Yeah, we're either all lost at the same place, or all at exactly the right place by sheer luck. I'm Dinah, pull up a chair."

"Oh, good," Jill said as she sat down near Dinah. "I wasn't sure, I mean, I've never traveled on my own before." And some of these people looked decidedly...weird. "I'm Jill."

Dinah'd done this a few times before, so all her anxiety was about New School/People/Ways to Screw Up. "The brochure said the island is about an hour away, so hopefully the shuttle will get here soon. Are you hungry?" she asked, getting the munchies herself. "I've got a cooler with snacks."

Her stomach was kind of grumbling. "Yeah, they didn't have breakfast on the plane," she muttered, "but I shouldn't take your food."

"My sister's--" Saying butler would sound like bragging at this point, and the whole Wayne family thing was what she was trying to get away from, so, "--friend made a whole cooler for me. He didn't think I'd get fed until way late, so I'm sure he put a lot in." Dinah toed her little cooler over, and popped the lid, then grinned. "Oooo. I think I have half a dozen of these little sandwiches with chicken on bruschetta, and he put in little fruit cups with grapes and feta cheese, and ooo, he put in the brownies!"

God Bless Alfred. She could write home and beg for food, and never starve.

"Oh, good," said Jill. "I've just never traveled alone before, and I was nervous. Hi! I'm Jill." She wondered vaguely what was this girl's deal, that she too was consigned to a boarding school that claimed they could deal with Jill's...condition.

Not that she was about to ask. That would be rude, and give away that there was something weird about her.

[identity profile] justwantsquiet.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm Sookie," she offered, wandering over a little closer. "It's my first time on my own, too. Honestly, I've never even been this far from Bon Temps."

Re: Waiting for the Shuttle

Jill couldn't decide if a girl named 'Sookie' or a town named 'Good Times' was more comment-worthy, so she went for neither and said, "We went on trips some when I was a kid, but not in a few years. I've been, um, sick."

Re: Waiting for the Shuttle

[identity profile] justwantsquiet.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh no!" Sookie did her very best to neither stare nor venture out with her mind to figure out what was wrong with the other girl. "I'm so sorry to hear that. You're feelin' okay now though, right?"

Probably not that reassuring.

Actually, it was kind of reassuring. Sure, Claudia was dressed like a crazy person, but that just reminded Jill of Raimie. "We can all be lost together," she said.
