BWI Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Spirit's ride to the island had been settled and Adora was trying very hard not to be nervous while she waited for the Fandom transport to arrive. Looking out the airport window, Adora realized she'd never seen so many fleets of vehicles in all her life that weren't involved in some sort of insurrection, and found herself desperately hoping her mother was right about this Earth place being safe from the Horde.

Just the thought of her family calmed Adora and she instinctively reached to touch the Sword of Protection where it was hidden by her hair and clothing, feeling that no matter where she was, she always had a way to contact the people she loved.

Now if only she knew for sure that this room marked "Fandom High" was really where she needed to be. Adora paced the large space as she waited, thinking she couldn't possibly be the only new student journeying to campus in this manner.

"Ah, that explains it," Zayne said. "I'm from a completely different world."

Not that he paid attention the fashion holos on Taris either. But he'd heard of a couple of them.

Staring.

"Drugs are bad," she said carefully. "There was an assembly?"

"Oh, no, I'm not on any drugs," Zayne said reassuringly. "Sorry, Master Lucien warned me that people might not be used to intergalactic travel here, but I actually do come from another planet."

"Of course you do," Claudia said, nodding. She'd learned this technique babysitting the Pike kids. Just roll with the delusions. "What's it like?"

"Well, Taris is a city that covers the entire planet. There are towers all over the place. You can even see some of them from orbit," Zayne said. "But my family is actually from Phaeda. It's less impressive than Taris."

Tooootally made up names. "What is Phaeda like?" she asked politely.

"Honestly, I barely remember it. I was brought in for Jedi training when I was really young," Zayne said. "There was some crime and mountains in the distance. Nothing too impressive, but it wasn't a horrible place to raise a family."

He certainly had his insane ramblings down pat. "And what's a Jedi?"

"An order of warrior monks that I'm training to join," Zayne explained.

"Aren't monks supposed to just sit around and pray?" Claudia asked.

"Those are different orders," Zayne explained. "The Jedi go out and try to help people."

"And other monks trip them and laugh?"

"Why would they do that?" Zayne asked.

"If there were different orders and only the Jeds go out and help people," she explained, "then what are the other ones doing?"

"Probably sitting around and praying, but not tripping people and laughing," Zayne said. "That would seem too mean for a monastic order."

"So all monks are nice?" she asked, beginning to confuse herself.

"Probably not all of them," Zayne said. "But the ones who aren't probably have more important things to do than trip people."

Claudia thought about that for a long time.

"...like what?"

"I don't really know," Zayne said. "I haven't ever met an evil monk."

Aha! Clearly she'd reached the end of his crazy delusions. She glanced oh-so-casually around for something to use to wake him from his drug-addled state.

"Soo...do you, like, watch movies and stuff in space?" she asked to distract him.

"What, like, holos?" Zayne asked. "I don't have too much time to watch them, but they're fun when I get a chance to catch them."

Darn it. No handy rocks or anything.

She'd have to work on that later, and then she could be a hero, saving this poor boy from his addiction! And he could fall in love with her, and they could get married...

Claudia had probably watched too many soaps.

"Which ones do you like best?" she asked, realizing she'd been staring into space too long.

"Well, they're not from this planet, so you probably haven't heard of them," Zayne said.

Oh, that's right. Still delusional.

"By type, then," she tried. "Romantic comedies? Mysteries? Documentaries?"

Please don't say documentaries...

"I don't know. Comedies, I guess," Zayne said. "I like to laugh."
