Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The forecast for today might have called for rain, but thankfully, there was no sign of bad precipitation in Fandom. The weather was bright and sunny, but still a bit chilly, so the first thing people might have noticed when they arrived was the bonfire set up in the middle of the lawn. There were tables and chairs scattered around the bonfire, some a safer distance away than others, and each table had been graced with a good portion of gold and blue glitter because the glitter supply was never, ever going to run out and certain people in the administration had just come to terms with that.

There were tables of moddable food and drinks, complete with the ingredients to make s'mores, as well as name tags and the lists of Big Siblings and roommates. It was time to welcome some new people!

Considering that Hanna hadn't meant to come to Fandom until about half an hour before she boarded the bus, finding her name on any list was... unnerving. Yes. Let's go with unnerving.

So she wasn't wearing her name tag, and she was side-eyeing around for this Elsa person... but there was food. SO. Much. Food.

...she'd be leaving after she ate. Really.

Cassandra had attached the 'name tag' to her armor only because upon arrival she had been told this would lead her to an individual who would be able to answer her questions. (This, only after the person in question had assured her repeatedly this individual would be more qualified.)

She was not carrying her sword now, which made her even more cautious. Caution led to crossed arms and quick darting glances across the picnic. Perhaps she should simply go out and call for this individual? That seemed less wasteful.

Barry took one look at the list of siblings and started swearing a blue streak. And in more creative ways than usual.

"FUCK ME SIDEWAYS WITH A FUCKING CHAINSAW!"

He pulled out his phone and started texting Elsa.

"This fucking day is already fired."

Cecil was wearing his name tag prominently and keeping an eye out for anyone who looked like a Carmilla.

Also for anything that might be attacking.

He was staying pretty close to the bonfire, too, because cold!

Ezra hadn't taken the shuttle. He'd been provided with a private ride by the Coterie. Whether Alistair was being nice to him with that, or just making sure he actually arrived at his destination, he didn't know.

He was here now, in his dapper suit with his name tag pinned to his lapel. He was casting some idle but curious glances around. (And not being obvious about taking in the scents in the air, although they were fascinating.)

Ronan did not want to be here. He'd been half a second from bolting, jumping out of the moving BMW while Gansey drove and risking injury just to get out of this. His hand had been on the door latch when Gansey had said the magic words:

"Declan will hate this."

Ronan hadn't jumped. He'd stayed and now he was standing in the middle of some picnic, a dark expression on his face. There was no name tag but he had helped himself to a drink. The one good thing about this place was that it was cooler than Henrietta. Apparently, it was also giving off some sort of energy that Gansey wanted him to check out.

So, he was going to be here. Checking it out in an oh so avid fashion.

Current students who had been assigned new rooms and/or roommates had been handwavily informed of the change, but the list had been posted for everyone to see at one of the tables:

"Gwen Stacy!" she bellowed. "You will make yourself known!"

Ezra snapped a picture of the rooming list and sent it to Ava and Lock with a little smirk.

Only after that was done did he begin scanning the crowd for a name tag that said Anna.

The only person Ronan could tolerate living with had been Gansey (and Noah though he was dead so he didn't count). Having to live with someone different?

A girl, even?

Ronan grunted under his breath and started chewing on his leather bracelets. Force of habit.

Shane had made his share of jokes when he found out Amy was going to have to share a room, and now that she saw her roommate's name printed on paper, it was starting to make Amy just a little nervous.

What if her roommate didn't like her glow-in-the-dark ceiling stars? Or ate all of Amy's food and forced Amy to have some kind of talk about it? Or what if she was the kind of person who got changed right in the open? Amy didn't know how to deal with someone like that!

Still, she was peering at nametags in search of a Raven and doing her best not to look too anxious about the whole thing.

She might have mistaken that plate of cookies as one serving, and be happily eating her way through it right now. Nobody but Eliot better try to stop her.

It was true, then; the school did expect him to teach. Obi-Wan had given no assurances, as whether or not he consented to do so depended on several factors. Most important of which was his access to Luke, yes, but there were also the eopies to think of.

...and whatever became of the meeting he and Anakin had decided upon.

Obi-Wan folded his hands into his sleeves and retreated, at least mentally, schooling his face into a neutral expression. Indeed, he looked perfectly at ease now.

The largest percentage of the time, he could even keep himself from glancing towards where Anakin stood.

See, and here Atton had been having a perfectly fine day - it had only taken an hour to convince himself to leave the bed - before somebody decided to cause a ruckus in the Force, giving him a headache.

So he was back to his grumpy self again as he hung back around the teacher area, sipping his coffee.

Jones ignored the tables of refreshments and stood toward the side of where most of the adults seemed to be congregating. Her eyes were on the students however, observing and noting their interactions with each other.

Jono was wearing a nametag, only because it would save him from having to talk to anybody else who was openly carrying a weapon and who looked like they might use it on him today.

What? You get a couple of armed students on the bus with that look in their eye, and you do what you can, here.

Still, he seemed to be in a fairly good mood. And he was probably going to talk regardless because really, people around here needed to get used to that sort of thing eventually. He'd also gone to collect Joni, who was once again riding around in his jacket pocket, because if anybody threatened a man with a kitten with a weapon, they were probably the real monsters, here.

Hannibal was here, and while he hadn't made quite the extravagant gesture for his new "teaching buddy" that he had for Karla, he had brought a number of finger foods that went very well with tea.

And a large thermos of very good tea; if Hatter hadn't brought his own, he shouldn't have to be subjected to the school's cheap teabags.

Bob had portalled here and come more or less straight to the party; he would, after all, have plenty of time to explore. It still didn't quite seem real.

There were nametags for everyone, and glanced over them, making note of a few before finding the Hrothbert of Bainbridge. It made him pause, but that letter had somehow worked, so... He tried and was delighted to find he could touch it. Well, maybe the sticky part was less delightful, but touching something!

He hopefully tried one or two of the others, but his hand continued going through them. Ah, well.

He wasn't going to bother being by the food or fire, for obvious reasons, but he was going to enjoy the feel of being outside, someplace still fairly new, and among people.
