Shop Class: [2/27] - Danger Shop Craziness

As the students enter the shop room, Mac greets them with a smile.

After everyone arrives and signs-in, Mac makes some adjustments to the remote control and the room turns into a metal scrapyard.

"Hey everyone. Welcome to Shop Class. Today we'll be doing another one of our Junkyard creativity excercises..."

*SLAM* *CLUNK*

Mac looks over at the doors to the shop class which have closed and locked on their own. "Hal? Could you open please?"

"I'm sorry Mac," said a monotone voice. "I'm afraid I can't do that. Apparently someone is very upset at you."

Five robots shimmer into existence around the group of students.

"Okay. This is not good," Mac muttered to himself. "Kids! Run for it! Get into the supply room! There's no holoprojectors there!"

Xander signed in. Bringing no one with him unless you counted the twinkies. Which he doesn't because twinkies are not sentient; that would be weird.

John signs in, yawning and rubbing his eyes. He hopes he doesn't fall asleep in class.

Sam signed in. "Mac, I invited Janet Fraiser to join us, if you don't mind. She's been listening to me talk about class and wanted to check it out."

"And, er, nice tail. Very fluffy."

Pippi looks around the danger shop thinking about the Gun Club meeting the other week.

"I like this place."

Fortunately, Nadia had her mallet and leatherman. Unfortunately, the last time she'd seen robots in the danger shop, she'd lost to them, and that was when she had a gun.

"Hal, this isn't funny. . . ."

She was swearing off sentient machinery for the rest of her life.

"What the HELL is wrong with this place?" Kawalsky muttered to himself. He took cover after first sighting the robots. "Never trust a machine." After hearing Mac's order, he kept low and ran to the next place that provided cover.

Lilly at first wonders what exactly Mac is up to, but when she sees her classmates scatter and freak out, she does the smart thing for once and dashes off to her left to find a place to hide for now, until she can get an idea of what's going on.

Mac stumbles into the supply room with Pippi's support.

"All right kids. If we don't want to be stuck in here we're going to have to find a way to deactivate Hal. We need to find a way to get to Hal's access panel and turn him off. Then we should be able to get the safety locks back on and turn off the program manually."

After the plan is discussed...

Mac throws the smoke bomb into the room where it lights up and causes a smoke screen. "Now! Go for it!"

The robots were confused by the smoke. Three immediately turned around and fired at each other. One fell, adding more smoke to the chaos.

The rest advanced towards the supply room.

Back in the supply room

Mac collapses on the floor and winces at the pain in his leg. He starts digging through the first aid kit to see if there's anything he can use.

"What's the problem?" asked Janet, coming over to examine Mac's leg. It could well be broken; she'd seen some heavy equipment land on top of him. "Where does it hurt?"
