Shop Class: [2/27] - Danger Shop Craziness

As the students enter the shop room, Mac greets them with a smile.

After everyone arrives and signs-in, Mac makes some adjustments to the remote control and the room turns into a metal scrapyard.

"Hey everyone. Welcome to Shop Class. Today we'll be doing another one of our Junkyard creativity excercises..."

*SLAM* *CLUNK*

Mac looks over at the doors to the shop class which have closed and locked on their own. "Hal? Could you open please?"

"I'm sorry Mac," said a monotone voice. "I'm afraid I can't do that. Apparently someone is very upset at you."

Five robots shimmer into existence around the group of students.

"Okay. This is not good," Mac muttered to himself. "Kids! Run for it! Get into the supply room! There's no holoprojectors there!"

"I'd tell you to bring wine, but I've sworn off drinking for a bit."

Janet's eyes widened. "I can't wait to hear this," she said. "What if I bring amaretto truffles? Would that count as drinking if you're eating them?"

Sam pondered this. "Probably? But if I'm only with you and they're covered in chocolate, I think you should be safe."

"What, did you show up to class drunk one day?" asked Janet.

"Dance. Friday. Spiked punch. Leather pants." Sam cringed. "It was bad."

Janet's eyes widened. "It sounds horrible," she said, regretting she hadn't been there with a camera or a video recorder. "You're right. We need chocolate and I'll sympathize with you the whole time."

"It wasn't horrible at all," Sam blurted, glancing at Mac. "Just embarrassing and awkward on Wednesday. And today."

"Isn't embarrassing and awkward usually horrible?" asked Janet. She grinned sympathetically at Sam and wondered if she could bribe Parker into having Broots hack the security footage. "And given, ah--" She glanced at Mac. "Things, I'm not surprised that there was the potential for awkwardness."

Sam shook her head. "Such a mess, Janet."

"At least he has no idea why it was a mess," said Janet. "That would be worse."

"He thought I was bitten by a gremlin," she whispered, "and I let him go on thinking that. It was less embarrassing."

"Good idea," said Janet. "It's amazing what the gremlin bite excuse will do for anyone."

Sam nodded. "Even if no one's seen a gremlin in weeks. I, er, let him think that I tried to kill one myself."

"It's not like you haven't killed them before," said Janet. "Or at least sedated them with caffeine and then played baseball with them."

"It was different," Sam shrugged. "At least, I think it was."

Sam grinned and looked down at her feet. "Oh, I wouldn't say it wasn't fun. Just a bit embarrassing afterwards."
