Shop Class: [2/27] - Danger Shop Craziness

As the students enter the shop room, Mac greets them with a smile.

After everyone arrives and signs-in, Mac makes some adjustments to the remote control and the room turns into a metal scrapyard.

"Hey everyone. Welcome to Shop Class. Today we'll be doing another one of our Junkyard creativity excercises..."

*SLAM* *CLUNK*

Mac looks over at the doors to the shop class which have closed and locked on their own. "Hal? Could you open please?"

"I'm sorry Mac," said a monotone voice. "I'm afraid I can't do that. Apparently someone is very upset at you."

Five robots shimmer into existence around the group of students.

"Okay. This is not good," Mac muttered to himself. "Kids! Run for it! Get into the supply room! There's no holoprojectors there!"

"I don't normally carry one around," said Janet, taking the knife with a grin. "I guess now I know why Sam thought I should audit the class." She started slicing up the side of his pants leg. "Both legs or just the one?"

"Pippi?" asked Janet. "Very nice girl. She brought us caramels in the library, unlike some people who set off fireworks." With any luck, she'd be able to distract him with conversation.

She managed to pull the jeans apart up to just above his knee. There was bruising and discoloration right below the knee, and Janet frowned. Touching it now wouldn't be a bad idea. "Trying to set this in the field would be a nightmare, and you could go into shock."

She looked around for a board of some kind and grabbed one, as well as a couple of bricks that she stacked on the floor and leaned the board against. "The best thing to do is to keep your leg immobile and elevated until someone from the clinic can get here with a stretcher. You need to stay off it. I'd guess a fracture of the tibia and fibula." Janet looked up at Mac's face. "I'm going to move your leg as carefully as I can, but it's going to hurt."

"Lucky you," she said, taking the strips of cloth and tying his leg in place firmly--and as gently as possible. "I'm a clinic aide; I've got first aid training and medical school aspirations--as well as two very accident-prone younger brothers."

She glanced at the door of the supply closet. "Do we know what happened here?"

"Someone?" asked Janet. She stopped and gave Mac a searching look. "Someone programmed the Shop classroom to attack us with killer robots?" She frowned. It couldn't be Eighth. She had no reason to try to kill Mac. On the other hand, she was probably pretty furious with Sam for helping Lee.

"We're a surprisingly competent bunch when it comes to danger," said Janet. "If that's a consolation."
