Shop Class: [2/27] - Danger Shop Craziness

As the students enter the shop room, Mac greets them with a smile.

After everyone arrives and signs-in, Mac makes some adjustments to the remote control and the room turns into a metal scrapyard.

"Hey everyone. Welcome to Shop Class. Today we'll be doing another one of our Junkyard creativity excercises..."

*SLAM* *CLUNK*

Mac looks over at the doors to the shop class which have closed and locked on their own. "Hal? Could you open please?"

"I'm sorry Mac," said a monotone voice. "I'm afraid I can't do that. Apparently someone is very upset at you."

Five robots shimmer into existence around the group of students.

"Okay. This is not good," Mac muttered to himself. "Kids! Run for it! Get into the supply room! There's no holoprojectors there!"

"Yeah, no kidding; I'm--" As much on the girlie-train as you, dont worry, he was going to finish. Xander shut up, however, as he glimpsed something in a pile near them, through the smoke, and darted over to grab the large sheet of bent aluminum siding. He held it up in front of them to at least temporarily block further shots, hopefully.

"Huh. Maybe it's just the twinkie-rush talking--" Or the ghost of somebody he never was, getting off on the adrenaline, or a moment of actual insanity where he's missing Sunnydale and not just his friends... "--but it doesn't completely suck. I mean, we're still here, right? That's pretty impressive against things that fire lasers."

"True," John replies, wiping his cheek and shaking his hand. "I'm gonna be sore for days. You all right still?"

Xander takes stock - his finger hurts like hell, he has a feeling the cut over his eye's opened up again despite the abundance of stingy stuff Pippi put on it, and the bruises on his bruises probably have bruises now, but overall.. "Yeah, I'm ok. Er... how're your feet?"

He looks down at John's shoeless feetness.

"I mourn the loss of my shoes," John says dryly but shakes his head. "I'm gonna be sore for days. My hand hurts like a bitch. But, I'll live. We'll have to play the sympathy card big time for this one."

HAL, who has been observing the conversation from his sensors notices that John ~~McClane~~ Crichton is not wearing any shoes.

A large pane of glass suddenly surrounds Xander and John.

"Robots? Please shoot the glass," Hal says in his monotone voice.

The robots shoot the glass sending shards everywhere around John and Xander.

"You SUCK!" Xander yells.

"Goddammit," John says, stepping quickly to avoid glass in his feet. Of course, he can't dodge them all and the glass cuts into his socked feet. "You suck squared!"

Xander tries as hard as possible to switch their input-channels over to any music video station that could possibly be playing a Rob Thomas song.

"If I had extra boots I'd offer, but the best I've got is a twinkie box, and that'd only do its pretty crappy job for one foot, anyway," he tells John.

"Nadia!!!" (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/676188.html?thread=32305500#t32305500) Pippi yells as she is surrounded by robots.

"Xander! John!" she can't see what's going on with them so she doesn't know John is effectively stuck or she would suggest Xander give him a piggyback ride.

"Nadia's down! I can't get to her, somebody get to her and get her back to the storage OW!!!"

"I'll live and thanks for the offer," John grimaces, finding a spot where he can stand comfortably. "Stupid robots. Mean robots. Ouch."

The robots stop momentarily, and instead of screaming out "EXTERMINATE" start singing...

We were drawn from the weeds
We were brave like soldiers
Falling down under the pale moonlight

Well, it's a change, though Xander's not sure it's an improvement...

He shouts back to Pippi. "Crap! John's got no shoes - he threw 'em at the robots! And there's broken glass all around!"

"Oh my god, they're singing," John says and covers his ears. "My ears! My ears! Kill me now!"

If they had legs, they could be considered what a robot might do if they were dancing.

And I couldn't tell you but I'm telling you now

"I suppose you have to fight the robots uphill both ways as well?" She yells back crouching between the curved siding and the smoking husk of a disabled robot.

"This sucks." she mutters as she reaches down to pull off her boots and tied the laces together with a slip knot.

"I have boots for him, but he has to take good care of them!!!" She yells back. "I'll throw them to you, where are you?"

Xander yelled back ~~with permission~~, "OVER HERE!"

Pippi peeked out and tossed the shoes over the robots in the direction of the yelling.

[[ooc: the boots are about a size 12 men's, they are very old (see avatar) but they are sturdy and have good soles.

Xander catches one of the flying boots, but while he's fumbling for it, the other hits him square on the top of the head.

"OW! ~~Words I can't yell within hearing range of Pippi Longstoncking OMG!~~"

He rubs his head, picks up the other boot and holds the pair out to John, and rubs his head some more.

"THANKS! OW!" he yells back to Pippi.

"That looked like it hurt like a bitch," John says, grimacing at Xander. He slides the boots on and laces them. "Thanks Pippi," John yells.

"Ready?"

Just let me hold you while you're falling apart

And the final two lyrics are enough for the robots to burst into flame.

Other robots begin to move in to take their place.

Xander watches in shock that is a combination of pleased and horrified.

"I... don't know if it's worth risking finding another channel playing that song, or not," he says to John. "There's one about killer bees that might work, but it's kind of country, so it might make them start line-dancing, and I'm not sure any of us want that."

"At least it seems to be working," John points out. "They're exploding due to the horrific nature of that song. We could...make a break for Nadia? And hope they don't start doing the Electric Slide?"

Xander looks at him in horror. "Don't give them IDEAS!" But the rest of that sounds like a good plan, so he nods.

"Hey Pippi!' he shouts. "Where's Nadia - is she near you?" Because they kind of need a direction to make a break in.

"Okay," she yells back, "If the direction of my voice is 12 o'clock... Nadia would be at like 9 or 10!"

"Yay, math," Xander says, though he actually knows those kind of directions fairly instinctively thanks to the military memory thing. He gets them pointed inthe right direction and looks at John "Ready?"

"Yep." John wipes the sweat off his forehead. "Ready as I'll ever be. After this? Alcohol."
