Detention - Saturday 4/22

[ooc: Detention is being posted in fandomhigh as usual for consistency, however, detention activites are occurring in town at the Town Hall.]


Lorelai is waiting in the foyer of the town hall promptly at 8am. She's looking longingly at the coffee and doughnuts spread that Luke thoughtfully provided while sipping her herbal tea and eating a banana.

She checks names off a clipboard as people arrive.

"Okay gang. This detention can be as easy or as hard as you make it," she says once everyone has arrived. "If you put a little effort in to getting the work done, you can be out of here in more than enough time to enjoy the prom. If you don't, well, you're only hurting yourself."

Lorelai tapes up a list of information that people might need.

[ETA: I turned off comment screening so that townies who have stuff for helping to set up the prom can poke in. That would probably be best under the Other Misc Decoration thread. Also, StuCo members and faculty who might have need of being involved in set up are more than welcome!]

Pippi didn't have detention, but she did tell Parker she'd stop by to help with decorations.

So, bright and early, Pippi popped her head in the door and looked around.

Looked like the detention squad had things well in hand. So she slooooowly drew her head out and closed the door.

Heavy Lifting

"I need some people to do some heavy lifting. We need to hang the backdrops (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/832548.html#cutid1) that the art classes made. The bandstand needs to be put together and checked for stability so the royalty doesn't have any accidents. And we need tables for refreshments and chairs for people to relax in. My husband, Luke, is here to oversee that stuff."

Techie Stuff

"We have some techie stuff that needs taken care of. There are seven DVD players (http://emo-padawan.livejournal.com/31335.html) that need to be set up to project 3-D images. There are also gels that need placed over the lights and directed at the correct area. I'm assuming you guys can figure out that the fire ones go to the volcanic areas, the water to places like Atlantis, etcetera. If you need help on this one? You'll probably wanna ask Luke again. I'm more likely to burn my fingers on the lights or short out the fuses or something."

Inside Decorations

"There are a ton of balloons that need blown up and a helium tank. Please do not start doing whippets. We also have streamers to be hung everywhere, rosettes for the banisters, and lots and lots of glitter. There are some plants that we need placed around in the appropriate areas. And tableclothes and candles to be placed on the tables once they're put together. There are also floating candles that need placed in all the fountains and lit. This would be my area of expertise and my best advice is that you can never have enough glitter."

Angela decided the project involving glitter was the only one for her, and went to retrieve the baloons and helium to start decorating.

There was just one mystery. "Ms. Gilmore-Danes? What's a whippet?"

For anything I may have forgotten. All the balloons, streamers, etc are in the school colors, blue & gold or silver & gold leaf.

Wonka wandered in in search of somewhere to put down his boxes (http://www.jackiesbaskets.com/pages/chocolate_strawberries.htm) down. There were many boxes all piled up, and all you could really see of Wonka was the top of his hat. And his pants and very shiny shoes. Everything inbetween? Red boxes.

OOC - Detention [4/22]

So there are four main decorating areas. Please have your character interact or at least establish presence in two of them. Please don't clump all the characters in the same areas and leave some areas untouched. I didn't assign groups, but if I see that certain areas are getting neglected, I will. Given the sheer amount of stuff we're supposed to accomplish, I don't think you need to RP everything in great detail.

Like I said in the email (http://msgilmoredanes.livejournal.com/7923.html), you can start interacting in other places after 3pm EST provided that your character has signed in and established presence in at least two of the decorating areas.
