Detention - Saturday 4/22

[ooc: Detention is being posted in

fandomhigh as usual for consistency, however, detention activites are occurring in town at the Town Hall.]

Lorelai is waiting in the foyer of the town hall promptly at 8am. She's looking longingly at the coffee and doughnuts spread that Luke thoughtfully provided while sipping her herbal tea and eating a banana.

She checks names off a clipboard as people arrive.

"Okay gang. This detention can be as easy or as hard as you make it," she says once everyone has arrived. "If you put a little effort in to getting the work done, you can be out of here in more than enough time to enjoy the prom. If you don't, well, you're only hurting yourself."

Lorelai tapes up a list of information that people might need.

[ETA: I turned off comment screening so that townies who have stuff for helping to set up the prom can poke in. That would probably be best under the Other Misc Decoration thread. Also, StuCo members and faculty who might have need of being involved in set up are more than welcome!]

Angela decided the project involving glitter was the only one for her, and went to retrieve the baloons and helium to start decorating.

There was just one mystery. "Ms. Gilmore-Danes? What's a whippet?"

Lorelai chuckled. "It's something people do with a helium tank that gets them high," she explained. "And what are you doing in detention, Angela?"

Angela affixed a balloon to the nozzle and began to blow it up. As she did that, it was hard for her to contain a look of irritation. "I bumped into Ms. Skeeter and she got mad. I'm just glad she didn't turn me into a kangaroo, or something."

"That's it?" Lorelai asked, shaking her head. "Some of the teachers around here are wound too tight."

"I knooooooow," Angela wailed. "Um. I might have kind of spilled some juice on her, too, but she just magiced it off anyhow. But at least this detention is with you and has glitter and stuff."

"It's the day of the prom!" Lorelai grinned. "You guys shouldn't have to serve detention today, but if you do, at least it should be a little bit fun."

Angela nodded. "I bet something weird will happen before prom anyhow. It always does."

She affexed a silver balloon over the end of the helium tank. "So did you go to your prom with Rory's father?"

"I actually didn't go to my prom at all," Lorelai admitted. "I had Rory by then. Are you still dating Marty?"

"Yeah. It's really good," Angela answered. "He had to go away for a while? But now he's back so ... good."

She reached for the streamers. "Are there colors you want in specific places or anything?"

~~She hasn't found out about the note yet, so he's still safe.~~

"Whatever you think looks best," Lorelai told her. "I can't climb ladders or anything," she added, looking down at her belly. "But you need some help. Veronica!" she called. "Can you come over and help Angela hang these streamers?"

Veronica walked over and smiled at both of them.

"Sure thing, Ms. Gilmore-Danes. Hey, Angela. Where are we hanging them?"

Angela waved. "Hey. Veronica. What are you in for?"

SHe glanced around the room. "She said wherever, so ... I think we should maybe start with some from the doorway. What do you think?"

"Passing notes in ACJ. You?"

Veronica looked around. "The doorway is a good place to start," she agreed as Lorelai walked away to check something else.

"Hey, Angela." Parker came by with a checklist, looking much less stressed-out thant the day before. "If you need any help, I can come back as soon as I check on the plants?"

"I think we're good," Angela said, strewing glitter about. "Thanks."

"So are you and Jarod all set?"

Parker brushed her hair off her forehead with the back of her hand. "We should be? He said he was getting a tux, and we were thinking about hitting Ching Tai for dinner. What are you and Marty doing?"

"Marty said he got his, and I'm set. We're going to Ching Tai too," Angela said. "But ~~we're going to handwave it in the interest of getting to prom before midnight~~ I think we might eat kind of early."

[OOC: I am now banned from using the strike tag.]

"I have no idea. God, I have to call Jarod, we never said *when* we were doing this." Parker might be vibrating. Clearly that big espresso was a mistake. "Maybe I'll see you there, maybe I won't, then. Did you get the shoes you wanted?"

"Yeah, they're really cute," Angela said. "They're sandals, a little brighter gold than my dress, and they have some beadwork on the toes that picks up the same type of thing on the bodice of my dress." She smiled ruefully. "I sound so girly. What's your dress like?"

"Bright red, sleeveless, backless, halter-neck, leg slit, with a criss-cross bodice," Parker said, motioning to her chest while trying to describe it. "I'm hoping Jarod faints." She grins. "It's fun to be girly sometimes. Prom is definitely one of those times. And your whole outfits sounds great. Elegant."

"It sounds like he'll drop dead when he sees you," Angela said. It was clear this was a good thing. "You'll look amazing. I think we all will."

"Just from what I saw in the dress shop, the guys of Fandom should feel priviledged to be escorting us," Parker said with a smile. She took a breath. "And I will be calm. I will. By this evening, I will be calm. The volcano is here, so the ice will be too."

Angela nodded firmly. "Breathe, Parker. And if it isn't here, it will be fine. It's just a dance. Really."

"Heh. And I'm not even in charge of the band or the royalty or the tickets or the golf carts..." Parker took a breath. "As soon as we're done here, I'm done. And you're right. It'll be fine." She grinned. "I'm glad Marty got back in time for this for you."

Angela rubbed her forehead. "I forgot about the golf carts. And now it looks like rain and ... I so cannot walk for school in my shoes in the rain. We need to figure that out." She sighed. "We'll have a good time. Right?"
