[ooc: Detention is being posted in fandomhigh as usual for consistency, however, detention activites are occurring in town at the Town Hall.]


Lorelai is waiting in the foyer of the town hall promptly at 8am. She's looking longingly at the coffee and doughnuts spread that Luke thoughtfully provided while sipping her herbal tea and eating a banana.

She checks names off a clipboard as people arrive.

"Okay gang. This detention can be as easy or as hard as you make it," she says once everyone has arrived. "If you put a little effort in to getting the work done, you can be out of here in more than enough time to enjoy the prom. If you don't, well, you're only hurting yourself."

Lorelai tapes up a list of information that people might need.

[ETA: I turned off comment screening so that townies who have stuff for helping to set up the prom can poke in. That would probably be best under the Other Misc Decoration thread. Also, StuCo members and faculty who might have need of being involved in set up are more than welcome!]

"There are a ton of balloons that need blown up and a helium tank. Please do not start doing whippets. We also have streamers to be hung everywhere, rosettes for the banisters, and lots and lots of glitter. There are some plants that we need placed around in the appropriate areas. And tableclothes and candles to be placed on the tables once they're put together. There are also floating candles that need placed in all the fountains and lit. This would be my area of expertise and my best advice is that you can never have enough glitter."

Angela decided the project involving glitter was the only one for her, and went to retrieve the baloons and helium to start decorating.

There was just one mystery. "Ms. Gilmore-Danes? What's a whippet?"

Lorelai chuckled. "It's something people do with a helium tank that gets them high," she explained. "And what are you doing in detention, Angela?"

Angela affixed a balloon to the nozzle and began to blow it up. As she did that, it was hard for her to contain a look of irritation. "I bumped into Ms. Skeeter and she got mad. I'm just glad she didn't turn me into a kangaroo, or something."

"That's it?" Lorelai asked, shaking her head. "Some of the teachers around here are wound too tight."

"Hey, Angela." Parker came by with a checklist, looking much less stressed-out thant the day before. "If you need any help, I can come back as soon as I check on the plants?"

Parker brushed her hair off her forehead with the back of her hand. "We should be? He said he was getting a tux, and we were thinking about hitting Ching Tai for dinner. What are you and Marty doing?"

Angela looks so happy with the glitter that Chloe doesn't dare take that job away from her. So, she decides to start getting the tablecloths and candles on the tables.

"You all ready for tonight?" she asks.

"I've got all those things too," Veronica says, also grinning. "Though I have to tell you I did promise Weevil a dance tonight, if you don't mind."

Zero grabbed the floating candles and headed to start placing them in fountains, but then something occured to her. "Mrs. Gilmore-Danes? Won't they burn out if I light 'em now?"

"Oh, good call," Lorelai said, nodding. "I'll tell Parker to find someone to light them just before prom starts. But at least they'll be in place," she added with a grin.

"Swerval," Zero said, and went back to placing candles, humming something that sounded suspiciously like "I'm Your Cuddlebug" under her breath.

Parker overhears part of this and waves to Zero. "Either I let the pyros Bel and Callisto do it, or I'm wandering around with a Zippo before everyone gets here. If you see them, tell them I was going to ask?" She lets out a breath. "And how are you?"

It looks like people kinda have a handle on everything else, so Jaye's going to play with the streamers.

Someone might wanna tell her where to put them so she doesn't just go "Ugh prom" and leave them on a table.
