fandomhigh | Detention - Saturday 4/22

[ooc: Detention is being posted in

fandomhigh as usual for consistency, however, detention activites are occurring in town at the Town Hall.]

Lorelai is waiting in the foyer of the town hall promptly at 8am. She's looking longingly at the coffee and doughnuts spread that Luke thoughtfully provided while sipping her herbal tea and eating a banana.

She checks names off a clipboard as people arrive.

"Okay gang. This detention can be as easy or as hard as you make it," she says once everyone has arrived. "If you put a little effort in to getting the work done, you can be out of here in more than enough time to enjoy the prom. If you don't, well, you're only hurting yourself."

"Blame Veronica," Angel said. "She got me kick-started on this. Her and her notes."

"It wasn't true what she told me in Caritas about you and her and Callisto and...you-know-who, was it?" Bel asked tentatively.

Angel looked suspicious. "What'd she tell you?"

"She told me the notes were about asking you to meet her for wild sex and that you all had been 'swinging' most of the semester," Bel said.

There was a long, long moment as Angel contemplated that imagery.

"Not true."

Definitely sounded wistful that time.

"That's what I said," Bel went on, "because I knew -- because I thought -- that you-know-who wasn't your type. But then she said that you two never did anything...together."

"Just me and Cal," Angel said. "I've never even kissed Veronica. We're just friends."

"Good," Bel said. "I knew she was making it up."

"Would've been nice though," Angel sighed.

Bel thwapped Angel's arm. "Stop that."

"Ow!" Angel rubbed his arm. "I'm trying! You're the one mentioning orgies!"

Bel hit Angel again. "I didn't, Veronica did!"

"Again, ow," Angel rubbed his arm some more. "And - fine! She did! But you're reminding me of her reminding you."

"Fine, I won't mention it again," Bel said. "If your mind starts going there, think of something else. Like what Callisto is going to do to you if she finds out you're obsessing so much."

Angel facepalmed. "Oh God. She'll stake me. I don't mean to obsess. Honest! I just - what was I supposed to do? I mean Jaye."

"Don't think about her either!" Bel said, wishing he had a newspaper to roll up.

"I didn't think I'd react that strongly," Angel said. "Hell, Veronica's apparently fine and dandy about it."

"How do you know?" Bel asked. "Have you talked to her about Jaye?"

Long pause.

"...not as such."

"Given your track record of clear communication," Bel pointed out, "not as such probably means not at all."

"It's Veronica," Angel said. "Besides, she's working radio now. She's bound to know, right?"

"If you keep flailing around the objects of your crushes, everyone is bound to know," Bel said.

"You'd think after years of stoic I'd be better at this."

"It's not that hard," Bel insisted. "Even I could do it if I needed to."

"You don't have feelings for L - you-know-who."
