fandomhigh | Detention - Saturday 4/22

[ooc: Detention is being posted in

fandomhigh as usual for consistency, however, detention activites are occurring in town at the Town Hall.]

Lorelai is waiting in the foyer of the town hall promptly at 8am. She's looking longingly at the coffee and doughnuts spread that Luke thoughtfully provided while sipping her herbal tea and eating a banana.

She checks names off a clipboard as people arrive.

"Okay gang. This detention can be as easy or as hard as you make it," she says once everyone has arrived. "If you put a little effort in to getting the work done, you can be out of here in more than enough time to enjoy the prom. If you don't, well, you're only hurting yourself."

Lorelai tapes up a list of information that people might need.

[ETA: I turned off comment screening so that townies who have stuff for helping to set up the prom can poke in. That would probably be best under the Other Misc Decoration thread. Also, StuCo members and faculty who might have need of being involved in set up are more than welcome!]

Jaye looks alarmed. Really alarmed. "Um," she says helpfully. "Watch the ladder."

"When does it end?" Angel asked. Possibly of Jaye. Possibly of the streamers. "Atonement. I'm for it. I'm its number one fan. But you go for it and every day the rug just gets yanked out from under you. And you think, hey, maybe live with no rugs? All hardwood floors all the time. But nooo, 'cause then somebody spills water everywhere. It doesn't end. It really doesn't."

And Jaye officially has no idea what he's talking about. She looks at the floor and says, "Do you need a hug?"

"Possibly?"

Jaye waves over the person who might actually be crazier than her.

Angel came over, looking a little hangdog.

He gets a hug. Aww.

Angel rest his head on her shoulder. "I'm having a long life."

She pats his shoulder. "There, there."

"Do you still have the alcohol on you?"

"Not right now. I thought someone might try to break into my prom date before I could," she says. "I'll save you a few chugs, okay?"

Angel sighed, standing back. "I appreciate that. So is he going to wear pants?"

One of these years Angel would find the part of his weetiny brain that made him say such things and then beat the everloving crap out of it.

"I'd... hope so," she says. "The prom photo might look a little funny without them."

"It's just apparently there's a tradition there."

Once was a tradition in Angel's mind. Possibly because the image had been burned into his braincells.

"A pantsless tradition?"

"That's what Veronica says," Angel tried for a "ha ha, silly Veronica" kind of laugh. "Boy, she just cannot shut up about that, really."

"I've never heard her talk about a pantsless tradition."

"Can't seem to shut up about it in my hearing," Angel muttered.

"So... how pantsless? Just without pants, or... without pants?"

Angel facepalmed. "I didn't ask. There's no pants. There's a shirt. That's all I've got."

"...I may have to talk to Veronica. Just to see what my phone call home tomorrow will be like."

"There may have been socks?" Angel added, helpfully.

"Hm. Socks kinda take away from it, I think."

"Could depend on where he was wearing them."

Jaye blinks.

And then blinks again. "Them?"
