Detention - Saturday 4/22

[ooc: Detention is being posted in fandomhigh as usual for consistency, however, detention activites are occurring in town at the Town Hall.]


Lorelai is waiting in the foyer of the town hall promptly at 8am. She's looking longingly at the coffee and doughnuts spread that Luke thoughtfully provided while sipping her herbal tea and eating a banana.

She checks names off a clipboard as people arrive.

"Okay gang. This detention can be as easy or as hard as you make it," she says once everyone has arrived. "If you put a little effort in to getting the work done, you can be out of here in more than enough time to enjoy the prom. If you don't, well, you're only hurting yourself."

Lorelai tapes up a list of information that people might need.

[ETA: I turned off comment screening so that townies who have stuff for helping to set up the prom can poke in. That would probably be best under the Other Misc Decoration thread. Also, StuCo members and faculty who might have need of being involved in set up are more than welcome!]

It looks like people kinda have a handle on everything else, so Jaye's going to play with the streamers.

Someone might wanna tell her where to put them so she doesn't just go "Ugh prom" and leave them on a table.

Angel, who'd skipped out of the common room with Callisto last night before Jaye and Logan's moment of bonding, passed by. "Hey, Jaye. Need a hand?"

She's sitting on the floor, winding streamers together. It's not the prettiest arrangement ever, but then again, she can't care. "Sure," she says. "As long as you don't think it'll ruin your manicure."

Angel looked down at his hands. "Why? Do they look rough?"

"Well, yeah, it's prom," Angel said. He pointed up. "Want me to help with hanging? I won't break my neck if I - well I might break my neck if I fall, but it won't matter."

"We have to hang them, too? Ugh," she says, holding one end of the twisted streamers up to him. "Knock yourself out. Not literally."

Angel took the streamers in one hand and started climbing up a ladder. "I think they prefer it to everybody tripping over them when they dance. Though I guess that's not a problem for you and - uh - BoB, right?"

Amazing how you could nearly knock a ladder over while still being on it.

Angel got the whole him/ladder situation righted, then looked down. "Logan's going with you?"

Angel's first thought:

Angel's second thought:

Alcohol. Duh.

Third thought:

He can't even try whiskey once in a while? For variety?

His final thought was more of an action. Said action was him, to all appearances, trying to put nails into the wall by using his head for a hammer.

Jaye looks alarmed. Really alarmed. "Um," she says helpfully. "Watch the ladder."

"When does it end?" Angel asked. Possibly of Jaye. Possibly of the streamers. "Atonement. I'm for it. I'm its number one fan. But you go for it and every day the rug just gets yanked out from under you. And you think, hey, maybe live with no rugs? All hardwood floors all the time. But nooo, 'cause then somebody spills water everywhere. It doesn't end. It really doesn't."

And she's not sure how exactly she feels about.

Then she remembers that she's going with Jaye's ex so she figures she can't really say much.

He wandered over to Angel. "You okay?"

After talking to Jaye, Angel grabbed Bel by the arm and dragged him off to a private corner. He checked for errant shrubbery, then said.

"Jaye's got a date for the prom!"

As though Bel would see the obvious problem there.

One of these years Angel would become good friends with proper nouns.

2006 was not that year.
