fandomhigh | Detention - Saturday 4/22

[ooc: Detention is being posted in

fandomhigh as usual for consistency, however, detention activites are occurring in town at the Town Hall.]

Lorelai is waiting in the foyer of the town hall promptly at 8am. She's looking longingly at the coffee and doughnuts spread that Luke thoughtfully provided while sipping her herbal tea and eating a banana.

She checks names off a clipboard as people arrive.

"Okay gang. This detention can be as easy or as hard as you make it," she says once everyone has arrived. "If you put a little effort in to getting the work done, you can be out of here in more than enough time to enjoy the prom. If you don't, well, you're only hurting yourself."

Lorelai tapes up a list of information that people might need.

[ETA: I turned off comment screening so that townies who have stuff for helping to set up the prom can poke in. That would probably be best under the Other Misc Decoration thread. Also, StuCo members and faculty who might have need of being involved in set up are more than welcome!]

Lorelai smiled. "That sounds great! Make sure you take at least one other person ~~Bel, omg~~ with you for safety."

"Gotcha," Callisto nodded. "I'll just go start setting up the area so we don't burn down the hall then?"

"Not burning down the hall is an excellent idea," Lorelai agreed.

"I'll be just outside." Callisto went outside to start clearing the area of anything flammable which wasn't going to deliberately set on fire.

There were a lot of reasons why Tex was walking around town and it was best not to ask, but she halted as she noticed Callisto working. "Do I want to know?"

Callisto tossed a look back over her shoulder, before resuming work. "I have permission."

"Sure," Tex nodded. "Permission for what?"

"Lighting those torches."

"Right," Tex tilted her head and wondered what idiot decided to let the pyro burn anything. "I'll watch."

"Can't yet," Callisto said. "~~Bel's not here.~~ The area isn't clear. Of course if you don't mind the hall burning down..."

"Awww, but then you won't be able to get into your pretty dress," Tex sneered.

"Oh, woe, I have missed prom, my life is over," Callisto deadpanned. "And frankly I'm more concerned with getting out of it than in."

Tex snorted. "What? Think your date might not be able to handle anything more complicated than a zipper?"

"Odd, I didn't think you knew him."

"I don't. It's just a universal truth about men," Tex shrugged.

"Well he's pretty and able to handle things well enough once the clothes are off, so that makes up for a lot."

"For enough," Tex had to agree. "Usually that's all they're good for anyway." That and emptying their wallets, but that didn't seem like the right thing to say as Sheriff.

Callisto grinned a nasty smile. "They can made some pretty good cannon fodder too."

"There is that, but usually they just tend to get in the way," Tex replied, but she liked the way Callisto thought.

"That's why you use the ones you won't mind losing."

Tex waved a hand. "I'm used to working alone. Granted, having an army does have its perks."

"They're good if you want to kill a lot of people fast and don't have any weapons with a high payload."

"Perhaps," Tex relented. "I still prefer to do my own work."

"There's nothing wrong with having a sense of personal workmanship," Callisto said. "I know there's some jobs I'd never delegate to my men."

"Sounds sensible," Tex nodded and looked at the town hall. "If you burn it down, you can skip the getting dressed part and just get right down to business."
