fandomhigh as usual for consistency, however, detention activites are occurring in town at the Town Hall.]

Lorelai is waiting in the foyer of the town hall promptly at 8am. She's looking longingly at the coffee and doughnuts spread that Luke thoughtfully provided while sipping her herbal tea and eating a banana.

She checks names off a clipboard as people arrive.

"Okay gang. This detention can be as easy or as hard as you make it," she says once everyone has arrived. "If you put a little effort in to getting the work done, you can be out of here in more than enough time to enjoy the prom. If you don't, well, you're only hurting yourself."

Lorelai tapes up a list of information that people might need.

[ETA: I turned off comment screening so that townies who have stuff for helping to set up the prom can poke in. That would probably be best under the Other Misc Decoration thread. Also, StuCo members and faculty who might have need of being involved in set up are more than welcome!]

"I know. Whose idea was that one?" Angela said, rolling her eyes. "Oh, hey, are you on radio tonight? I lost track."

"Nope," she says. "Which is a good thing as that broadcast would be Interesting. It's Not-Crunch Crichton, the Menagerie Man tonight."

Angela grinned. "Oh, that could be fun." After carefulyl setting down the table, she pointed to a backdrop that might, possibly, have a wee seahorsey hidden near some ruins, and a squirrel watching from on high. "Do you notice anything interesting about that? Look at the plotch in the tree."

Jaye tilts her head. "Huh," she says. "And you know the most surprising thing? We seem to be missing a ton more glitter on it."

"You think it wouldn't ruin the vision to add glitter?" Angela asked. "Because there's a ton left."

"My vision will probably be blurry before I ever see it again," Jaye assures her.

"Drunk might be the best way to get through this," Angela agreed. "God, why is it such a big deal? It's just a dance."

"It's the dance, or something," she says with an eyeroll. "At my old school, it's usually done by years. Our senior prom is already half-planned. Since October."

"Yeah, I know it's the dance. It's just --" she made a face. "It's all SUCH a big deal, and it's SO important? When really it's just the same people you go to school with anyhow. Just in nicer clothes."

She sighed. "I may just be nervous."

She frowns. "Why nervous?"

"Um." Angela said. "Just ... nervous. It's stupid. Never mind."

"Where should we put the other table?"

I'm afraid my boyfriend is going to run away and start killing people again, which is what she's thinking does not exactly make for polite conversation.

Jaye points, kind of randomly. "How's right there?"

"Good," Angela said, barely glancing at the spot Jaye indicated. "It'll get covered with flowers and stuff anyhow, right?"

She shook her head, trying to clear it.

"So what did you do to get stuck in detention?"

"I bitched about prom to your boyfriend and the dragon in ACJ hates me," she says.

"I think the dragon hates everyone," Angela said. "He gave Veronica detention too."

She tucked hair behind her ear. "So was he okay with being bitched to? He's been twitchy this week. Like, even for him."

"Oh, he twitched. It was kinda cool," she says. "But he seemed okay. Was telling me there was nothing wrong with going alone and hanging with people if I had to." She shrugs. "No big."

"Going in a group is probably more fun anyhow," Angela said. "You can make fun of everyone, break the guy's hearts, all of that."

"But I'm sorry stuff didn't work out with Cam, seriously."

She shrugs. "He needs a good girlfriend and I'm a psycho. It wouldn't have worked," she says. "It's fine."

"You aren't a psycho," Angela told her. "But - I'm glad you think it's fine, whatever."

"I spent yesterday having a conversation with a Bottle of Booze named BOB who is going to be one of my prom dates," she says. "A completely full bottle, mind you."

Angela looked confused. "Did it, um, talk back? Or was the conversation kind of one-sided?"

"One-sided. Things don't talk to me," she says quickly.

"That's really good to know," Angela said. "Heard from Elvis lately?"

"He never writes, he never calls... I don't know what's up with him," she says. Totally joking, by the way.

"It's hard work, being dead. Or faking your own death. Whatever."
