Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Seriously Fandom, wtf flower crowns?

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies!]

Isaac had valiantly tried to get rid of his flower crown but, alas, it was not happening. At least the grumpy look on his face helped him cling to whatever shreds of masculinity he had left thanks to this stupid crown.

Stiles was tired and he had a silly crown on his head, but nothing was going to stop him from taking advantage of picnic food. He was even feeling a bit of nostalgia, considering this meant he had been here around a year now.

Seems like only yesterday Mr. Barton was scaring Derek off for harassing him. Good times.

Sia and her flower crown were doing the mingle thing, standing off to the side with a drink and checking out the crowd. It was possible she was making sure no one else had her face and/or was going to try and kill her at any point. Okay, it was definite.

So, Maddie was back after a few months away, and she was feeling more awkward about it than she'd really expected. At least there probably weren't too many people who'd want to know or care about what she'd been off doing?

...Was that a good thing?

Anyway, she'd be sitting here at a table, expecting to completely mix up last session's unfamiliar faces with today's newbies.

Raven was making the whole floral crown thing work for her. She was wearing a soft little white dress -- what? It wasn't Labor Day yet, and besides, she was really starting to dig the white outfit look -- and had brought out a little blanket to spread out in a nice shady spot with a plate of food, picnic style.

Next time, maybe she'd try out being a big sister. For now, she was content just to sit back and enjoy watching the new kids try to take their crowns off.

Atton wasn't planning to do any of that. Atton was planning to grab some food off the free food table and kick back in the corner with it. Feet up on the table, plate in his lap, go.

Honestly, Peter hadn't even wanted to show up. Between the flower crown that didn't want to leave and the really colossal amount of work that setting up a campaign for Hegemon was, he didn't really have the time.

In the end, though, curiosity - and planning - won out, and he moved outside with his laptop. Which he'd be working on while everyone else celebrated or ran around in circles or whatever it was they did.

Returning to Fandom after their tour of Yeul's world made the island feel a little drab. While the pink crown sitting on her crest livened things up visually, it hadn't quite yanked Liara out of her mild post-trip funk.

She sat at the edge of the group, eating slowly. She was considering going back inside.

Korra wasn't sure where the flowers had come from, but they were pretty sweet, and better than some of the other surprises the island had sprung on her.

So she was just going to be chilling and faintly surprised she'd been here a year already.

Cade was so pretty in his sleeveless shirt, copious tattoos, and his big pink flower crown.

Karking crown.

He had a plate full of free food (and a bag full of it for later), and was now watching for new faces and placing mental bets on how long they'd last before cracking.

Rilla was one of the few who would voluntarily wear a flower crown anyway, so she was quite pleased by the turn of events when she woke up this morning.

She was currently munching on a muffin with an eye out making sure two-year-old Jims didn't put his fingers in the cakes. She hoped that the newcomers this time weren't dressed too inappropriately.

Vider had attempted to remove this flower circlet from her head about five times by now, but it really didn't seem to be interested in coming off.

On the bright side, there was free food, which she would never turn down.

Between the crown of snowdrops and her excellent hair day, Emma was the very image of some kind of fairytale princess. At least from the shoulders up. Every single thrift store she'd gone to on the mainland had been picked clean of clothing (damn, hipsters), so she was stuck with the jeans with worn through knees and a shirt she didn't think would last much longer.

But while it did, she'd be over by the food table, eating and pocketing leftovers.

There was food. There was people. There were these bomb ass flower crowns. Danny just didn't know where to start.

Well, his stomach knew where to start. It grumble a little, telling him that food should be his top priority, then, once he had managed to make it through the plate piled with nibbles, he would go get his mingle on.

Last time he'd been to a picnic, he'd been the new guy. This time, he wasn't the new guy and he'd gotten lucky to not get saddled with a ridiculous flower crown that seemed to be going around.

It was kind of stupid to look around for anyone familiar but Flick had anyway. He saw no one. Not surprising. He rubbed his chest and ignored that dark feeling that seemed to always threaten to just swallow him up.

Flick found his way over to the food table and grabbed some juice before heading back into the mess of students to try and be social. And to see which ones might have the best stuff for some recreational stealing that he planned to do later on.

There was a big man sitting at a picnic table perhaps just a little too small, hunched over a plate of meat and a bowl of salad. The meat he gnawed on with relish; the salad he patiently and adoringly fed to the little hamster in front of him.

"That's right, Boo," said Minsc, "we must eat up, for we will want the energy to mingle all day! Plus, that's another this place, eh? Not that I am knocking it, but it sure beats the hide off of dead rat skewers, right, Boo?"

As soon as the flower crown had appeared on his head, Ange had started going on and on about how pretty it made him look. That, in turn, made Dev groan and make faces. And that, of course, started an argument.

Theo just let them argue while he grabbed some food and ate said food while wearing a crown of flowers.

This place was insane.

Loki, his flower crown, and Ikol were setting themselves up in a prime spot for some people watching. It was, of course, the most interesting thing to do on such days.

Despite multiple attempts of removal, the crown on Raleigh's head stayed in place. The only thing he had going for him was that at least it wasn't as big as some of the other crowns.

Stupid flowers.

Saying goodbye to someone he cared about yesterday wasn't going to stop Jim from coming to the new student picnic. And even if he couldn't get the freaking flower thing off his head, he was still gonna come.

And he was going to make flowers look really damn good while he was at it.

Evan's break week had not wound up being very restful at all. In fact, he had half a mind to park his butt in his room and not come out for the next month or two, but that sort of stubbornness could only last him so long. After all, he had a dog that needed walking, and classes to go to, and a job at the library and he couldn't just hide away forever.

It was tempting, but he couldn't.

So he made his concession to the welcome picnic even existing in his usual manner, staking out a tree and sitting under it with a stack of books. That way, nobody could accuse him of being blatantly antisocial. People could totally approach him if they wanted.

... It was possible that he was actually getting worse at this sort of thing.

With her flower crown, white dress, and bare feet, Anna kind of looked like she'd dressed for some spring festival instead of the fall welcome picnic. She kind of liked it, though. She could be found around the edges of the gathering, not exactly lurking, but not exactly diving into the socializing, either. It was her way.

Yeah, there was no way Alex was going to pass on the free food and the shellshocked new kids, even if he did have flowers randomly on his head. He was far from the only one, after all. He piled his plate high, and might go back for seconds.

Scott didn't know where the heck the flower crown had come from, but since it didn't seem to be going away anytime soon, he was more or less resigned to wearing it. At least it looked like just about everyone was in the same boat?
