Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Seriously Fandom, wtf flower crowns?

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies!]

"No," Flick answered, laughing at the question but not the kid. It wasn't a stupid question for someone who was new. "So, eat until you're fat, man. And if you've got pockets, save some for later. Though, free food's pretty easy to find around here."

"Oh good," Isaac said. "Because I don't cook. At all. Not that I'd be able to afford to cook if I could."

"Yeah, join the club." He could cook somewhat but it wasn't something he wanted to do on a regular basis. "Don't worry about food around here. You can't afford it?"

Flick shrugged lazily. "Just take something from one of the common rooms. No one labels their stuff so you can just say it's yours."

"Seems easy enough," he said, not having any qualms about sneaking food. "I'm Isaac."

"Flick," he replied with a nod. "Guess you're one of the new guys in town, huh? Welcome aboard. How was the trip into town?"

"It was my first foray into the world of portals," Isaac said. "Are they supposed to make you feel nauseous?"

"From what I've heard, yeah." He hadn't had the pleasure just yet. "But, I think if you managed not to throw up, no one's gonna hold it against you. I got here in a luxury car, unfortunately. Would have preferred the portal."

"Seems like the car would be slower," Isaac said. "But more comfortable. I guess both could cause puking though, depending on how weak your stomach is."

"Iron clad." Flick patted his stomach proudly. What a thing to be proud of but he took what he could get these days. "Been through worse than a car ride from hell. Nice crown you got there. Seems the island thought it'd be whimsical today."

"Luckily mine isn't as lavish as other people's," Isaac said, poking at his crown. "Some people are wearing a whole bouquet on their heads."

"Guessing taking it off doesn't do anything?" Flick asked since everyone still had theirs on and not all of them looked too happy about it.

"Nope, just comes back," Isaac said, sighing. "Could be worse. Somehow."

"Yeah, you're not wrong," Flick agreed with a nod. "And it's probably not the strangest thing that's ever going to happen to you either. Hope you're not easily surprised."

"Oh believe me, I'm not," he said. "I come from a pretty weird town myself."

"Weird like the lady on the corner talks to herself and cleans her cats -- "

Also known as New York.

" -- or weird like you can't stop singing one day?"

"Weird like werewolves."

Flick raised an eyebrow. "Uh huh. So weird like 'I thought that only happened in movies' weird. Interesting. Good werewolves or bad?"

Was there such a thing? Flick knew there were good witches and bad witches, apparently. Thanks, American cinema.

Isaac shrugged. "There's good ones and bad ones. Just like humans, only grumpier on the full moon."

"Uh huh." Flick was just taking this all in stride and letting it roll off of him otherwise he'd just go insane. "So, which are you?"

Relevant question since Isaac was gonna be in the same building and he'd want to know if he needed to rent a hotel on the mainland during a full moon.

"What makes you think I'm a werewolf?" he asked.

"Nothing," Flick said breezily, actually impressed that Isaac had caught onto Flick making an assumption in the hopes of finding out some information. "But, if you'd answered that question, I would have known you were. You caught on, though. A lot of people would just answer something like that without thinking."

"I've gotten good at hiding things over the years," he said with a shrug. "It's a good skill to have."

"Agreed." Flick guessed that was a talent with a lot of people here. "No one needs to know about my life but me. They didn't live it, I did."

Isaac nodded in agreement. "It usually brings on a lot of unwanted judgement."

"And you tend to get enough of that without people knowing every single thing about you."

High school was made for judgment without any reason. It was its lifeblood.
