Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Seriously Fandom, wtf flower crowns?

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies!]

Stiles sighed. "I am fine. Or as fine as I'm going to get. Have to change my definition of the word."

Clint frowned at that. "That doesn't sound very reassuring, for the record," he said. "Are you physically okay, at least? From the, uh, sixteen hour nap?"

"Yeah. Everything's good. Got a bump on my head from a car accident but I've had worse," he said. "I'm just...I don't know. I feel different and I'm trying to learn to deal with it because there's no making it better."

"Is there anything I can do to help? And that's an outstanding offer, for the record. I mean, you can come up with something later, once you figure out what the deal is better," Clint said.

"Just being around is helpful, I think. Scott and I both noticed it. Things are worse when we're alone," Stiles said awkwardly. "I've been having trouble sleeping, but I don't know if that's just from the stressful week or the whole sacrifice thing."

"Or a combination of both. I know how that goes, sort of," Clint said. "At least the dorms are full of people? Especially newbies to talk to."

"I've been sleeping at Derek's since I got back," he admitted. "Not like--he sleeps on the couch, me and Puppy Joe take the bed."

It didn't used to always be like that, and Stiles tried not to think too hard on what changed to make that happen.

"If you're trying to make me feel better, that's not the way to do it," Clint pointed out. "Do you really think that's safe?"

"What wouldn't be safe about it?" he asked.

"Well, you know, it's Derek," Clint said lamely, shaking his head. "Never mind, if he makes you feel safe, then I guess that's a good thing."

"He wouldn't hurt me," Stiles said. "He's less pissed about this whole thing than I imagined, but he's been acting weird. I figure I can try to annoy him into admitting what it is if I stick around long enough."

"Oh, well, if you're going to annoy him, then carry on," Clint said. "And he shouldn't be pissed at you. You were trying to save your dad. It sounds like you and Kitty both did what you needed to do."

"No, he deserves to be angry," Stiles said, shaking his head. "I'd be angry at him if he did the same thing. I just...I kind of wish he had been angrier? That I could deal with, but he's doing this silent thing now and, I don't know, it's freaking me out."

"Maybe he's worried? And that's a foreign concept?" Clint said.

"He's always worried," he said, shaking his head. "This is something else."

He sighed. "Sorry, I'm dumping on you when you don't even like Derek."

"No, it's okay. He helped Kitty help me, so I'm willing to give him a slight bit of credit towards being a decent person," Clint admitted.
