Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Seriously Fandom, wtf flower crowns?

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies!]

Scott didn't know where the heck the flower crown had come from, but since it didn't seem to be going away anytime soon, he was more or less resigned to wearing it. At least it looked like just about everyone was in the same boat?

Okay, so there was a robot kid who looked like Scott. So there was a possibility this wasn't McCall.

Maybe.

Derek glared at him from a safe distance. Like a creeper.

You know that prickling on the back of your neck feeling you get when you're being watched? Yeah. Scott had that. Unfortunately he lacked super werewolf senses, so it took him a while to figure out just who was doing the creepy staring.

His gaze settled on Derek and he gave the guy a confused look, trying to figure out if he'd seen that face before, before looking away abruptly and hoping creepy dude hadn't noticed Scott noticing him.

And, should Scott look back over there again? Derek would have vanished. It was a Derek thing they came from him being a complete weirdo about socializing.

This could only end badly.

Derek had told Stiles all about Scott (or what he gathered from his lurking) so Stiles felt like it was his job to give him a proper introduction. "Scott, buddy, hi."

And suddenly, a wild Stiles appears... "Gah!"

Blink blink blink.

Headtilt.

"...Stiles?"

Wait, what?

"Hiiiiii." He knew how weird this was, he did. He did the same thing last year with Derek. "Surprise?"

There was something different about Stiles, but Scott couldn't place it for the life of him.

"What are you doing here? I mean, not that I'm not glad to see you, because I am, but- why?"

He had hair, Scott. He had hair.

"Ohhhhhkay this is going to sound insane. Like really insane," Stiles started. "Prepare yourself for insanity."

"Uh, I'm friends with you, aren't I?" Scott felt that more than adequately prepared him for insanity. "I'm prepared." Oh, how little he knew.

"Okay. Okay. Okay." He was just gonna stare at Scott a little more because holy crap how did you word this? "Okay."

He took in a deep breath and decided to just spit it out. "I'm from the future. I'm seventeen and a senior and I've been at this school for a year now."

There were so many things in that sentence that did not make sense. Like, all of them. All of the things in that sentence.

"What? If this is a joke, I don't get it."

"Dude, look at my face. This is a serious face. It's an 'I'm not lying' face," Stiles said, pointing at himself. "I mean, I can prove it. Pull on my hair, it's real, and and and--and I have a tattoo! You can touch it, it's also real. Would I go that far for a joke?"

Oh. The hair is what was different.

"You got a tattoo? That's so unfair!" His mom was still refusing to budge on that topic.

"Yeah, I got it a few months ago," he said, lifting up his shirt to show off the tattoo on his hip. Anybody else and he would have been afraid of getting made fun of, but his Scott got a boob for a tattoo. He can't judge.

"... Is that a wolf?" Why a wolf, Stiles? WERE WOLVES SOMEHOW IMPORTANT?

"Uh, yeah, it is," he said. "They've sort of become a big part of my life in the last year or so. Huge. Not regular wolves, more like...um."

He cleared his throat. "Okay, I'll get to that. First things first: me being from the future, are you on board with that?"

Okay. First his roommate said she was some sort of- superpowered mystical warrior. And now he had Stiles saying he was from the future.

"I guess?" he was still kind of lost, to be honest. "Your hair does look different."

"Attaboy, Scott," Stiles said. "That's a thing that happens around here. Different people are from different universes. Jackson's here too, but he's a senior like me. And you remember Isaac Lahey? 'Cause he's also here."

He really hoped Scott's head wouldn't explode from all this information coming at him.

He kind of vaguely knew Isaac, sure. They'd never really hung out or anything, but they were pretty equal on the whole social-pariah scale.

"Jackson's here?" Wow, Scott, that whiny tone was super-unattractive.

"Yeah, and he's as charming as ever," Stiles said, shaking his head. "We basically ignore each other when we can except for once a month."

Scott didn't know why anyone would want to hang out with Jackson any number of times a month. "Ignoring's good," he said with a nod. "I'm good with ignoring."

"You're gonna have to do a lot of ignoring here," Stiles said. "There's this broody guy with amazing stubble? His name is Derek. He's my friend, but his social skills absolutely suck until you get to know him so you might want to ignore him too."

Broody guy with amazing stubble?

... Oh, right, creeper staring dude from earlier.

"You're friends with creepy staring dude?"

"It might've been--" Stiles stopped himself when he realized, no, it probably wasn't someone different. "Yeah that was Derek. He's not as creepy as he seems at first."

Okay, that was a lie.

"We're pretty close," he admitted. "Like, he's pretty much my best friend here. Since you weren't here. But you're here now."

This was confusing.
