Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Seriously Fandom, wtf flower crowns?

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies!]

"...do you really think people will question it?" Look how fabulous they looked. Just look.

"Well, no. People there probably expect that from us by now," he said. "Why are we going to Denny's again? Isaac couldn't have pissed you off that badly, he's not even wearing a scarf today."

The scarf flipping made everything he sad sassier.

"What does a scarf have to do with anything?" ISAAC SEEMED LIKE HE SHOULDN'T WEAR SCARVES. THEY WOULD RUIN HIS LOOK WITH BITCHY.

"I don't know, man, for some reason his sass goes up when he wears one," Stiles said. "It's like the Jackson effect or something."

"I think I like Jackson better." Whoa. Whoa, Derek. Let's not say things we can't take back.

"Isaac is way better than Jackson," Stiles said. "Jackson is the worst."

"Not where I'm standing." Somewhere, Isaac was trying to flip a scarf he didn't have on.

"Okay, seriously, what did he do to you?" he asked.

He was mean and hurt Derek's girly feelings.

Derek just raised an eyebrow at Stiles for questioning it at all. Because he didn't have an answer.

Stiles sighed. "Okay, fine, whatever. We'll go to Denny's and you can brood at some pancakes."

Because it didn't occur to him that the Denny's trip was for him.

And that was fine with Derek. He could get a Lumberjack Grand Slam and Stiles would have food forced upon him. It was a werewolf thing. Clearly.

"Do you have something better to be doing?"

"You know that I don't." Come on, Derek, Stiles had less of a social life than you did.

"Then stop complaining about free food." Actual sugar daddy Derek Hale.

"I wasn't complaining." No, he was wondering what the hell was bothering Derek today. He was still confused about what bothered him on Thursday. "We'll go later tonight. I want to try to get a nap in first."

Try being the keyword there.

That was because no one talked to each other about their issues. ~Beacon Hills~

Derek nodded like that worked for him.

"Some kid who looks like Scott is here. Smells like him too. Human, though." And Derek creeped on him.

"What? Don't you think you should have started the conversation with that?!" Stiles started smacking at Derek's arm. "That's something you tell people right away!"

"Owwww."

Derek rolled his eyes. Because he was the nicest person ever. Nicest. Ever.

Plus, he wanted to secure Denny's before this all happened. "I thought you knew."

He did not think that.

"No, Derek, if I had known I would have said something to you," Stiles said, looking increasingly more worried. "He's human? How am I going to explain any of this? Do you know how weird you and I are going to seem to him?"

It's not like Stiles was known for hanging out with strange older men back home.

Derek stared at him because that thought hadn't actually crossed his mind. So many people had just given up on trying to understand their weird little friendship up until then.

Oh god, did this mean no more Netflix nights?

Stiles was too busy pretty much talking to himself to notice the staring. "I mean he's just gonna have to deal with it because, yeah, the gawky teenager and grumpy werewolf combination is weird but I like it. So he'll just deal."

He would make some kind of reference to Reese's Cups if Scott asked about it.

"I'll just won't say anything about werewolves. Or him being a werewolf. That'll work, right?"

Ohthankgod. Derek would end up dating an English teacher if that happened, Stiles. He would be at a low point enough to willingly date someone.

For real.

Also, stop making him have a weird, warm feeling in his chest. That was a dick move.

"Yes." A beat. "Make sure the others know."

Those were called happy feelings, Derek. Get used to it.

"I'll be the one telling Isaac, I presume." Since Derek decided he hated him. "I guess I better find Scott before Isaac finds him."

So much for that nap.

HE WAS RUDE AND DEREK'S FRAGILE EGO COULD NOT HANDLE HIM.

And that freed Derek up to run from these horrible happy emotions. "I'll talk to Jackson and Jack."

"Thanks." The last thing he wanted right now was to deal with Jackson's stupid face. "I'll see you tonight."

God, he hoped he didn't say that in a tone that made it seem like a date or something.
