Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Seriously Fandom, wtf flower crowns?

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies!]

"It's all Charles' fault. He insists on signing me up for all my classes. I'd appreciate the help with the chores, though."

"I'll definitely help," he assured her easily. "I mean, I can try to cook but unless it's in a microwave, I probably won't be very good. But, I'll definitely clean up. And I can shop without breaking things too!"

"You know, I actually still haven't tried the microwave? It's a little bit intimidating."

"Really?" Theo asked, eyes widening. "Hey, I can show you that. I'm an expert. It's pretty much the only thing I used, besides the telephone to order pizza, of course, back home. It's easy. I'll show you."

"When I'm from, they're still using them mostly to study astronomy." That was a bit of an oversimplification. "And the Russians were probably trying to weaponize them."

"And I just use them to make popcorn." And maybe Hot Pockets. "My parents aren't really around back home so I use it to survive and not live primarily off cereal. It's really about knowing the type of microwave you have, reading the instructions on what you're cooking and not putting anything that could easily burn in the microwave."

Theo didn't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing that he knew so much about microwaves.

"That sounds about like how you use a stove," Raven said. "Only the microwave in the common room doesn't look big enough for a roast pan."

"Things heat up faster in a microwave," Theo said in response to that. "A lot faster. The stove probably makes better meals but the microwave makes them faster."

"It sounds a bit like something out of a World's Fair," Raven said. "Which is nice. So much of the future was disappointingly not that futuristic, when I first got here."
