Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Seriously Fandom, wtf flower crowns?

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies!]

Korra wasn't sure where the flowers had come from, but they were pretty sweet, and better than some of the other surprises the island had sprung on her.

So she was just going to be chilling and faintly surprised she'd been here a year already.

Since he felt he could still pretty easily pick out which students were new like him and which ones weren't, Danny took note of the people who weren't looking around like they were trying to take everything in or with expressions of utter confusion on their face and honed in on one he felt was a sure oldbie.

"Hey," he said, lifting a hand in a wave, "I'm Danny. You're from here, right? What are these crowns, some sort of welcome tradition of sorts?"

"Something like that," Korra replied. Let whoever this guy's big sib was ease him into the crazy. "I'm Korra."

"Korra," Danny repeated the name with a nod. "Nice to meet you! Hey, help me out with something if you could, Korra. See, I noticed, on the bus here, a lot of the other newbies were kinda acting like this place was going to be totally bunk. I'm of the opinion that it's going to be totally shiv. Who's got it right?"

Korra knew those words, but in that order they made no sense. "You're not allowed to stab people," she said slowly. Because she at least knew what a shiv was.

Danny considered that in the context of his question. He nodded, finding it satisfactory. "Well," he said, especially since he figured that he was more than likely to be the one being stabbed. It had happened before, "that's good. I'm pretty sure that'll help soothe at least one person's worries."

"Definitely yay," Danny agreed with a nod.

"Just out of curiosity, though," he ventured, not even realizing how it might sound by him asking, "what happens if you do stab someone?"

"You get in trouble." Korra wasn't actually sure about that. "Probably expelled."

Unless it was an invasion, you could usually stab those guys.

"Mmm." Danny's brows furrowed a little in thought, his head bobbing along as he reasoned through the logic of that. "Makes sense. Any other restrictions I should know about, other than the stabbing?"

"Just the usual ones," Korra said, since it wasn't like she knew what other schools rules were.

Danny appeared to be going through a mental checklist through his head, an incredibly long one, nodding and moving his lips a little as he seemed to be marking each one as something to avoid.

"Got it," he finally said. "I think I can handle that pretty easy. So let me ask, Korra, what's your favorite thing about this place?"

"Oooh, not bad!" Danny approved of that choice. "Any particular local delicacies I should be sure to partake in?"
