Gavin was out at the picnic, relaxing against a tree and making no real move to do much mingling. He could do that later.

Susan knew, even before courtly etiquette was ingrained in her brain, that staring was impolite.

However, she couldn't help it. "Mr. Tumnus?"

Not could she help the note of shock in her voice. She felt it was warranted, given how much the boy looked like her friend, and how much he also did not look anything like a faun.

Alice noticed the girl's clothing -- more similar to her own era than most of what she had seen, and more what she was used to than what she herself was wearing, for that matter. She walked over and dropped a very proper curtsy, which was somewhat difficult while wearing jeans.

"Hello," Alice said. "Are you a new student here?"

River had considered not going to the picnic. There would be new people, and she had little interest in getting to know them. No, that wasn't quite true, they were people, they made her curious, but other things distracted. Finally she decided to go, and now she slipped through the crowd quietly, watching and listening.

Katchoo was hanging back from the crowd -- large gatherings of any sort still reminded her a bit too much of Darcy's parties -- and under a tree, lighting up a cigarette.

She was resolutely refusing to believe that some of the stranger-looking people she saw weren't in costume.

"You shouldn't smoke, it's bad for you," Ichigo commented as he noticed the girl sitting to the side. If it occurred to him that perhaps this wasn't the best way to introduce yourself, he didn't much care.

By now, Hinata was starting to feel a bit tired, and she tucked herself under the shade of a tree to quietly watch people from there.

Viki had to admit that even though she'd never considered school before, that if it was all like this then maybe it wouldn't be so bad even if she couldn't count on being around for long.

Jamie wandered the party sipping his drink and checking out some of the newbies.

Mostly either to see if they had freaked out over how strange this place was or to see if it didn't even faze them.

Amber parked her butt on the ground, leaned her back against the tree, and looked around. She was totally mingling.

The fact that she'd been expected here was still unnerving Agnes.

Before she'd become a witch, she would probably have hid in the corner and not talked to anyone. Now that she was one, there were standards to uphold. So, she straightened her pointy black hat, made sure she looked like she darn well knew where she was and what she was doing, and settled herself a little ways back from the crowds, watching and observing. Which, of course, wasn't the same thing AT ALL.

Edmund had his room allocation and had met his new sibling (as if he didn't have enough of those all ready). He decided to try his hand at mingling, even if he would have preferred to go straight to his room.

Although he was starting to wonder if this whole attempt at being social and present was a bad idea, Cal still hung around, although slightly apart, just quietly watching and trying not to think.

Alice was relieved to be wearing more modern clothing at this picnic -- denim trousers and a green shirt.

She was more so relieved to know a bit more about this island and its inhabitants, this time around, than she had during her previous picnic.

She was standing near the edge, glancing around curiously, smiling at anyone who might smile back.

Having jumped right back into his room and settled his stuff away, Ronan made his way down to the picnic. There were new students! Yay!

With a smile, and a few extra buttons undone on his shirt, Ronan mingled through the crowd.

Sam headed over to the food table with Grace, trying to decipher the noises she was making and what she was pointing at to pick the kind of food she wanted. While she was focusing on the table, he looked around to check out all the new people.
