Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

Yes, there were more tables and chairs here. No, they were not allowed to be used for making a bonfire. Eat something hot if you're still weirdly cold.

"Oh no!" Giselle looked shocked at the implication. "I was on my way to get married, but this old hag pushed me down the well. So now I'm waiting for Prince Edward to come rescue me."

He was about to reply reflexively that it was 'King' and 'Edmund' but he caught himself, realising that she wasn't talking about him but some other man whose name actually was Prince Edward. This Edward was taking his time. "Then I feel it is only proper as a knight that I offer my protection until Prince Edward arrives so that no old hags further put you in danger."

Giselle's hands were over her heart in and instant as she looked surprised and touched and elated and curious all in a moment. "Why thank you, sir Edmund. I don't think she's here anymore, I fell a long, long, long way, but I do so appreciate it."

"It's King Edmund, actually." So much for keeping a low profile. "But please, I'm trying not to make a fuss, so I would prefer it if you called me Edmund. Whether the hag is here or not, I am at your service."

"Just Edmund then," she said happily. "Where are you a King of? Do you know my Prince? We're from Andalasia - it's just past the Mountain of Joy and Valley of Contentment!"

He'd been doing quite well keeping up with Giselle, but that one threw him for a moment. The moment passed and only a blink betrayed the fact that he thought that was a little odd. "I'm afraid Andalasia and Prince Edward aren't known to me. I'm King of Narnia. Well, a King. My two sisters are Queens and my older brother, Peter, is High King. We rule Narnia together."

"Oh, how nice," Giselle enthused. "Do you all get along? Well, you must, of course. I always wanted a brother or a sister. I had Pip, of course, but it's not quite the same."

"We get along most of the time." That was the diplomatic way of saying it. "Who's Pip?"

"He's my best friend," she said. "He's a chipmunk. Are you excited to be here? Were you expecting a school? I was just hoping for a castle to seek shelter in, but then they said they were expecting me to go to school!"

He waited until there was a pause so no more questions would be asked while he was answering. "We have talking chipmunks in Narnia as well. I'm not terribly excited to be here, but open to the possibility of it becoming a good place to be. But yes, I was expecting a school. My brother went here last year, so I know a little of what to expect."
