BWI - Portalocity Lounge [Friday Morning]

Chloe got off her flight from New York and followed the signs to the lounge. She dumped the duffle bag of clothes that Andrew had hastily purchased on the floor and slumped into one of the uncomfortable airport chairs.

She was still against this plan but she realized on the flight that sulking wouldn't make it any better so she was going to put on a brave face and make the most of it.

Tybalt wasn't exactly in the mood for mingling. Tybalt was in the mood for standing on the outskirts of the lounge, his lip curled back in a distasteful sneer, wondering just what he'd done to deserve a punishment like this one.

... Aside from the obvious.

If anyone did care to mingle with him, he would be the one in the fancy vest, pulling expensive import cigars from his pocket and then striking a match. Airport smoking laws, his ass.

Layla made a quiet polite coughing noise in her throat and pointed at the non-smoking sign.

"It's a federal law not to smoke in an airport," she said sweetly.

The signs had said NO SMOKING, but signs were usually just suggestions, and that man over there didn't seem to care much about them.

Elena nodded her head to him once, pulling out a cigarette.

"Spare a light?"

Layla sighed in relief as she dropped her bags on the ground and gave the group of students a cheerful wave and grin.

"Hi! I'm Layla Miller," she called out. "I know stuff."

Elena couldn't help a glance at the other girl, based on a comment like that.

Elle and her hips sashayed slowly up to join the other students heading to Fandom; her three inch jeweled heels soft upon the thin, airport carpet. She was dressed head to toe in smooth, curve hugging, boob enhancing, pink leather. And she was smiling brightly, encouraging Bruiser who was tucked into the curve of her arm.

"Isn't this fun, Bruiser? Don't be scared; everyone looks super nice."

Elena couldn't decide if the other girl was some sort of walking parody of commercialism, or if she had embraced it past where she cared about such things. She was either thoroughly shallow or very clever. Possibly both.

"I wouldn't have expected his name to be 'Bruiser,' she volunteered.

Chloe was watching her through her hair and had to admit she had never seen anyone that flamboyant. Not even at her performing arts school.

She gave the other girl a shy wave.

Elle was not happy. Not happy at all. The stupid portal sucked.

But she was somewhere else for once, so she wasn't as unahppy as she could've been.

She was sitting in a chair and sulking liekwoah, however.

Elle blinked at the totally unfortunate looking girl. The poor thing. Smiling cheerfully, she walked over and introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Elle Woods, and this is Bruiser Woods," she indicated her adorable Chihuahua. "I can't help but notice how sad you seem. Is there something I can do to help fix that?"

Elena had been packed and ready to leave by dawn. Had she stayed longer, had she slept on the matter, she would have lost her nerve. She wasn't entirely convinced that she still wouldn't.

She had spent the better part of Thursday at the Gold Saucer, losing money on the chocobo races, before catching her portal here.

She was overtired and a bit jet-lagged (portal-lagged?) but still found herself walking up to the tall windows and staring out. The sky was so clear here. It seemed to go on forever.

"I-i, it's pretty," Tara managed (stammering like the dork she was) from a spot near the blonde girl. "Hi. Are you her for c-camp, too?"

Tosh was determined to make the best of her current situation. Really, school hadn't been that bad the first time around. Things could be a lot worse. Really.

Smiling brightly, she headed towards the waiting area, her suitcase bouncing on its wheels behind her.

Chloe looked up to see another girl arrive and she gave her a small wave.

Shortly before the shuttle was boarding, four intimidating looking Wutaian men appeared in the shuttle area. Two of them were carrying a large steamer trunk, the other two carried a rather large burlap bag between them.

Occasionally the four of them looked down at the bag, which occasionally moved or from which came muttered curses. They were hoping the trap spell on the bag held just a little longer.

The men were intimidating yes, but Elle had been captivated by that bag which seemed to move here and there if she watched it long enough. Curious and seemingly undaunted, she walked over in her head to toe pink and asked with a super bright grin: "Hi! What's in the bag?"

Jean was there and completely not nervous. Nope. No nerves there. It was just a completely different school, in a completely different state where people might know what she was.

No big, right?

Right.

So right now she just smiled in a friendly way and hoped for the best.

Danny hadn't gone through a portal. A portal he could have dealt with.

He'd arrived via a flight from Chicago, with the child who had, quite possibly, raised whining to an art form, and perhaps even perfected it. Grandma, he had decided at the half-hour mark, had to be solidly deaf, or a master of meditation.

So he seemed a bit cranky and sullen, that was why.

Tara had never flown before, and it had taken the flight from Eugene to Denver just for her stomach to settle down and for her to get used to how tiny the landscapes rushing by beneath her were. But somewhere between Denver and Baltimore, her legs had started cramping up and now she was just glad to be off the plane.

She took a seat on her suitcase and watched the students, half hoping someone would come to talk to her and half terrified of it. Everyone was so pretty.

This wasn't so bad. This was just a little different from your average spaceport. Mirax kept that in mind as she walked through the airport on a planet she'd never heard of, gravitating towards the group of kids. If that wasn't where she was supposed to be, she'd be amazed.

Time to meet people. She was good at that part.

Bobby's somewhat resigned mood had improved dramatically as soon as he stepped in to the lounge and saw-

Holy crap girls.

Summer camp was gonna be awesome.

Spock materialized in a sparkly transporter beam, bag slung over his shoulder, and looked around the room. It seemed to be some sort of waiting area, which made sense. He'd been informed it was difficult to get a transporter lock on his final destination, and that he would have to take a shuttle the rest of the way. These people must be waiting for the same transport.

Kate was too tired to mingle. She had arrived pretty late on Thursday evening, intending to sleep at a hotel so that she would be awake and alert during the shuttle ride to the school. That plan had, however, backfired: she had been too excited to sleep, except of course when she finally blacked out in the early hours of the morning. With only a few hours of sleep, the morning had been rough on her, and she didn't much feel like talking, so she stayed further away from the main group and just drowsily looked at the other people.
