BWI - Portalocity Lounge [Friday Morning]

Chloe got off her flight from New York and followed the signs to the lounge. She dumped the duffle bag of clothes that Andrew had hastily purchased on the floor and slumped into one of the uncomfortable airport chairs.

She was still against this plan but she realized on the flight that sulking wouldn't make it any better so she was going to put on a brave face and make the most of it.

Elle was not happy. Not happy at all. The stupid portal sucked.

But she was somewhere else for once, so she wasn't as unahppy as she could've been.

She was sitting in a chair and sulking liekwoah, however.

Elle blinked at the totally unfortunate looking girl. The poor thing. Smiling cheerfully, she walked over and introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Elle Woods, and this is Bruiser Woods," she indicated her adorable Chihuahua. "I can't help but notice how sad you seem. Is there something I can do to help fix that?"

"Not unless you can send me back home," Elle said with a grumble.

And then, after a pause that went on a moment too long to be socially acceptable: "I'm Elle Bishop."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I can't do that," she said, totally feeling for the other girl. "The homesick feeling will pass, sweetie. Just give it time. You can totally count on me to help with that."

Aw, already taking one under her wing.

"Omigod, we totally have like the same name! That's so awesome."

"... Okay," Elle said warily. "But I'm not homesick. I just don't want to be here."

This was an important distinction in Elle's mind.

"You don't like school?" she guessed. "I didn't at first either but I realized I'll never get anywhere in the fashion industry if I don't put forth the effort and just do it. Good grades and new friends make you happy and when you're happy it doesn't matter where you are!"

Elle was helpful.

Elle was psychotic, if you asked the other Elle.

"I haven't been in school in years," Elle supplied, giving one of the few details that Bob had told her she could share with other people.

Elle gasped. That was so wrong! "Are you one of those homeschooled students?"

"... sort of," Elle said, making a face. "And I was sheltered, too." Said with the tone of someone who'd had that drilled into her.

"Omigod, that's totally the worst ever!" Elle invited herself to sit down in a chair right next to Elle number two. "No wonder you'd rather be anywhere but here. I'm proud of you! You're totally here, right? And you've already made one friend. That's like awesome!"

That caused Elle to look a little startled. "I made a friend already? Oh, wow, I kinda did."

She hadn't expected it to be that easy; she knew her social skills weren't exactly the best, thanks to more than five years of being with the Company, so this was kind of a pleasant surprise.

"You did!" she replied, her energy totally making her perky. "Not just kind of, either. We're going to have super fun times together!"

She could take her to a salon and maybe talk her into getting highlights, share her issues of Cosmo, then there were the slumber parties, manicures, pedicures...

"I'm from Bel Air, California. Where are you from?"

"Ohio," Elle said, making a face. "I know, I know. Boring, right?"

It really was, too.

"I can't answer truthfully, Elle, as I've never been there but I trust you, since you should know," she said. "Is it like what, desert land?"

"It's just... flat and boring. I don't really remember it too well," Elle explained. "I was nine when we moved."

Plus the torture that she didn't remember had killed bits and pieces, too.

"How unfortunate; I'm so sorry," she comforted. "We'll go shopping! Do you like to shop?"

"I don't go out much," Elle said. "Mostly my dad just has people shop for me."

And Elle terrorized them into returning the stuff she didn't like.

"But you can change all that now," encouraged Elle. "Your dad isn't here and I can totally see you in pink pedal pushers and a cashmere sweater!"

"... ooh, cashmere."

Apparently there really was some girliness hiding in there somewhere. Who knew?

Elle nodded, looking adorable in her pink leather that cost a fortune. "Pink even. The color will look fabulous on you. Trust me." Fancy that. Two Elle's, both blonde, both blue-eyed. One might think the BFF fate was at work here.

"But not too much pink," Elle decided. "That's your color. We can't both wear a lot of pink, otherwise how are people going to know who's who?"

Elle's logic was special at the best of times..

Oh, Elle didn't really have to answer that did she?

"You're totally right. We'll go with blues and purples for you. Both excellent choices."

"I think I like blue better than pink, anyway," Elle admitted.
