BWI - Portalocity Lounge [Friday Morning]

Chloe got off her flight from New York and followed the signs to the lounge. She dumped the duffle bag of clothes that Andrew had hastily purchased on the floor and slumped into one of the uncomfortable airport chairs.

She was still against this plan but she realized on the flight that sulking wouldn't make it any better so she was going to put on a brave face and make the most of it.

Bobby's somewhat resigned mood had improved dramatically as soon as he stepped in to the lounge and saw-

Holy crap girls.

Summer camp was gonna be awesome.

"Welcome to the big group of people I haven't named yet," Mirax greeted the new guy. "Help would be appreciated."

Okay, Bobby, stay cool. Only not, you know, that kind of cool. The metaphorical kind.

"We could start with naming me? Uh, I mean, I have a name. And I could tell you it. I'm Bobby, hi!"

"I would have named you Bobby anyway. Weird," she said without skipping a beat. "Mirax. I had nothing to do with naming me, though."

"Wasn't me, either," Bobby said, holding both hands in the air. "Mirax, huh? Where's that from? Like. Canada?"

"I'm not sure about the name, but I'm from Corellia. Which is probably nowhere near Canada." Mirax supposed she was going to have to get used to answering questions like that a lot. At least it should make conversations interesting. "And where are you from?"

Yeah, Bobby was just gonna assume Corellia was in Europe, then. Maybe it was near Latveria?

"Long Island. Or Westchester, more recently. Both of those are in New York," he added helpfully.

"Oh!" she said, nodding. "I have absolutely no idea where that is, but it sounds interesting."

"It's not, really," Bobby waved a hand dismissively. Except for the crazy evil mutants and things, but he wasn't supposed to talk about that! "The coffee shop was pretty much the only interesting place for miles, and I'm not allowed to drink more than one iced coffee a day anyway. Hank says it makes me too hyper," he made a face at that.

The way Mirax figured, she could ask questions for every word or phrase she didn't understand yet, liked iced cofee, or she could learn by inferrence. She'd go with the second thing. "Who's Hank?"

"Hank? Hank's kinda my best friend at boarding school. Well, my other boarding school. Not this one. I'm pretty sure he's the smartest guy on the planet, actually."

"You get two boarding schools? Lucky." No, she didn't mean that, which might have been obvious by the tone.

"The first one wasn't *bad*, just, you know, boring." Bobby had to admit. Definitely better than jail, anyway. "And I don't know, this place can't suck too much if *you're* here, right?" So smooth. So, so smooth.

That was pretty much what she was thinking, too. "I do tend to make things better. Natural skill," she joked. "But we're not there yet. You might want to reserve judgment."

"Reserve judgment, right," Bobby nodded. "I can do that. Unless they give us ice cream on the shuttle, in which case I'm gonna have to land firmly on the side of this place is awesome."

"Hi Bobby!" Layla said with a cheerful wave. "Good to see you again. For the first time."

"Hi... girl I've never met?" Bobby tried. "Good to see you too. I guess."

"Oh, we've met," Layla replied. "Just not yet. Or in my case on a different dimension. Don't worry, I'm not crazy. I'm Layla Miller. I know stuff!"

"Right." That made no sense. "What kind of stuff? Like, geometry?" He did not get geometry. Compound interest, sure, but geometry... eluded him.

"Don't think you can con me into doing your homework," Layla smirked. "You're just going to have to call home and have Hank tutor you."

"Well, yeah, I was planning on- hey! How do you know Hank?" Oh, Bobby.

"I told you," Layla replied. "I know stuff. And I know Hank from my world as well."

"Ooookay," Bobby nodded. "So are you, like?" he made a series of complicated motions near his head that were supposed to indicate telepathy.

"Oh no," Layla said. "I don't read minds. I just know stuff. I'd tell you how it works but I'd be struck down dead before I finished tellilng you."

"Yeah, let's avoid being dead, then." Bobby nodded. "I'm not a fan of it."
